The welcome was warm. The room was recently renovated and of very high standard. Booked one night stayed four. Well positioned in central Lyon. Staff assisted us with internet, flights and other travel arrangements.
I will definately go back. Only negative : PARKING, but that is a problem in all cities.
If only other establishments would realise the importance of a pleasant greeting from front office staff.

Spent 3 nights at the hotel grand terreaux and loved it. Spotlessly clean, tastefully furnished rooms and esp appreciated the fab towel/bathroom heater! The hotel is located in the historic part of Lyon and very close to all the major sites like the Opera, the boulevard etc. And it's opposite a supermarket which is always great! The staff were generally very helpful, assisting us with transport issues, restaurant bookings etc. I highly recommend going to the bouchon Chez Georges which is about 10 mins walk from hotel. It has delicious, really authentic Lyonnaise cuisine. Speaking of food, we didn't opt for the hotel breakfast which was Euro14. Lots of cafes nearby so always a better bet to try them out.

We stayed for 3 nights in Dec. 2007 in room 501 which is a Corbeille Room.

The room was beautifully furnished, cosy and comfortable but quite small. The room had 2 charming juliet style balcony windows and was furnished with a desk and chair and a lounge chair with ottoman. The cupboard was rather strange in design and too narrow to hang an averaged sized shirt! The space around all the lovely furniture was very tight and we found it difficult to cope with 2 average sized suitcases.

The bathroom was very nice & newly renovated with a decent amount of space, a lovely shower (in bath) and natural light (internal courtyard window). The towels were very skimpy though.

There was no mini-bar in the room but the hotel’s bar (on the ground floor) was open 24 hours.

We found the staff to be OK, although they gave us the impression that assisting guests was a lower priority than doing other tasks.

We were very happy with the hotel’s central location. It is an easy walk to most of the city sights, cafes and restaurants. We tend to walk a lot in any city but usually do use some public transport as well. Our stay in Lyon was a little different as we found that we went everywhere on foot and had no need for any public transport (other than getting to / from the train station with our luggage)!

The buffet breakfast provided by the hotel was set up in the back of the ground floor, around the indoor pool. The breakfast food was of a good quality but there wasn’t a lot of choice and the atmosphere in the breakfast room was cramped and wasn’t that great. We preferred to breakfast in one of the many cafes close to the hotel.

We were able to buy a SFR wi-fi internet card from reception and we could use wi-fi in the room.

The brilliant location of this hotel is only outshone by the enthusiasm and generosity of the wonderful staff. Stayed in a Courbelle room and recommend that you pay the extra and do the same. The rooms are charming and spacious and the bathrooms modern and clean. Skip the breakfast - you're in Lyon - and save your appetite for lunch and dinner at the feast of wonderful restaurants only minutes away. Reception staff are more than happy to help with advice and bookings. I wouldn't stay anywhere else in Lyon.
