The hotel is nicely restored and a good value for a 3 star property in Lyon. We are satisfied with our corner room on the top floor. Large windows with shutters, ample desk area and spacious bathroom and closet space. Flat screen TV. Slow elevators like in most European hotels, but stairway is airy and well-lit. No street parking but plenty hotel parking.
This is our first visit to Lyon. The hotel is located on the Rive Gauche (the left bank of the Rhone river) area across the bridge from the Opera/Hotel de Ville (place Terreaux), about 4 blocks from the Foch metro station. If you have to stay in Vieux Lyon or Presque-ile, then this is not the right hotel for you.
We are delighted to find the hotel in a somewhat residential neighborhood not far from the center (place Bellecour). There is a direct subway line from the Perrache train station, and the newer La Part Dieu station and shopping plaza (with a very busy "Carrefour" store) are within walking distance (about 12 pleasant block away). We find surprisingly delightful ethnic, contemporary and traditional dining selection along rue de Seze where the hotel is located and also along rue Massena between the hotel and the aforementioned Part Dieu station. If you like non-touristy spots, you will enjoy the area around this hotel.
