I stayed several years ago at the Fer a Cheval and came back last year.
The ambiance is fantastic, rustic but beautifully done. The service is fantastic and the food is superb. You have a feeling you are in a living museum. Some of the rooms require one flight of stairs up without an elevator, so if you have problems with that make sure you ask. The bathrooms and amenities are great. It is quiet end even if it would be noisy you can close the shutters and all the noise is kept out. I am a travel agent and have stayed at many different hotels and even though this one is rated as a 4 star I feel it should have more stars than that but it does not have the meeting rooms etc. Only a block from the village it is a wonderful home away from home.
Definitely not a canned HolidayInn! Atmosphere galore and wonderfully romantic!
