For a French ski resort our room (B+ room) was big and included a separate lounge area with flat screen TV with balconey over looking the mountains (4th floor). You are always going to have people enjoying themselves in a sky resort and yes with the balcony patio door open the noise levels were noticeable in the evenings but not loud enough at the back of the hotel to bother anyone (you can always close the door).
We stayed half board and were impressed at the creativity and the use of seasonal produce, variety of ingredients (salsify Froie Gras, Sea Bass, Frogs Legs, Scallops) all very rich food and to some people could be perceived a little too rich for their palate. Deserts never failed to disappoint every day. Certainly a gastro experience.
All facilities one would expect (above average) including swimming pool (not a splash pool) however, beauty prices (massage, body wraps etc) very expensive.
The bar / Reception area is intimate tasteful and stylish. Drinks are that of a 4 star hotel, but this hotel is definitely not 3* it is a 4* hotel, (in fact whilst we were staying the inspectors from the 'French Grading Body' offered Tsanteleina 4* luxury status however, they want it to be a very good 4* hotel as opposed to an average 4* luxury).
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful especially Reception/Concierge and the bar staff.
Overall, Val D’Isere this year was expensive, a beer 8 Euros however, this resort has great skiing, excellent lift facilities along with great restaurants, thoroughly recommend but not on a tight budget! We have already pre booked this hotel for next year!
