“Lovely, stylish hotel”

Tsanteleina Hotel

Apr 8, 2008

I booked a last minute skiing trip and found that the Tsanteleina were the only hotel that could accomodate us for a few nights rather than everyone else around who wanted the full week. Online booking via email with the hotel was easy and given the price and the location, I found it pretty reasonable especially for the halfboard option.

I didn't have high expectations for the hotel, thinking that it would be average, but was very impressed! The hotel is stylishly decorated throughout, the rooms are snug, but they have all the necessary comforts - TV, good beds, hot showers, fluffly towelling robes.

The best parts of the hotel were the food in the restaurant - truly excellent - I didn't expect it to be so good for the halfboard option - and the hotel bar had fab cocktails and a very friendly and helpful bartender.

The spa has been recently refurbished and it is lovely to end the day looking out over the mountains from the jacuzzi!

I have been to Val several times now and have stayed in a few places and would say this is the best so far, I was very impressed.

The only downside is that there are lots of rather loud sloane rangers here, some with their children that are raucous - at times I did wish I had a tranquilliser gun with me! But, that didn't impact on my opinion of the place overall.

    • Liked — excellent food, location and spa
    • Disliked — too many sloane ranger ADHD children running riot!

“ok”

Tsanteleina Hotel

Apr 1, 2008

we stayed here whilst skiing in march.

found the room a bit small and dated, for the money we paid.

breakfast was poor always seemed to just a a few scraps of bacon left and a scraping of eggs on the buffet. and were short of milk and juice most times, granted we usually came down later than most guests but they seemed reluctant to replenish anything.

despite the disappointing breakfast we decided to eat in the hotel twice at night and found both time excellent.

the spa was ok, didnt have any treatments though - there was not treatment menu in the rooms, so at first we thought it was just a pool / sauna.

val disere was excellent

“Loved this hotel!”

Tsanteleina Hotel

Mar 30, 2008

For a French ski resort our room (B+ room) was big and included a separate lounge area with flat screen TV with balconey over looking the mountains (4th floor). You are always going to have people enjoying themselves in a sky resort and yes with the balcony patio door open the noise levels were noticeable in the evenings but not loud enough at the back of the hotel to bother anyone (you can always close the door).
We stayed half board and were impressed at the creativity and the use of seasonal produce, variety of ingredients (salsify Froie Gras, Sea Bass, Frogs Legs, Scallops) all very rich food and to some people could be perceived a little too rich for their palate. Deserts never failed to disappoint every day. Certainly a gastro experience.
All facilities one would expect (above average) including swimming pool (not a splash pool) however, beauty prices (massage, body wraps etc) very expensive.
The bar / Reception area is intimate tasteful and stylish. Drinks are that of a 4 star hotel, but this hotel is definitely not 3* it is a 4* hotel, (in fact whilst we were staying the inspectors from the 'French Grading Body' offered Tsanteleina 4* luxury status however, they want it to be a very good 4* hotel as opposed to an average 4* luxury).
The staff are extremely friendly and helpful especially Reception/Concierge and the bar staff.
Overall, Val D’Isere this year was expensive, a beer 8 Euros however, this resort has great skiing, excellent lift facilities along with great restaurants, thoroughly recommend but not on a tight budget! We have already pre booked this hotel for next year!

    • Liked — Spacious, clean, location and the very friendly staff along with excellent food!
    • Disliked — Weak £, made hotel expensive! Other than that it exceeded our expectations for a 3* hotel

“You'll definitely warm to the Tsanteleina”

Tsanteleina Hotel

Mar 6, 2008

Arrived at the tsanteleina to discover we were given the wrong room but after a quick word with our very helpful rep, Nick from Inghams we got a new room sorted - very spacious and clean - thanks to the lovely cleaner who couldn't do enough to help.
The staff (if you smile nicely) are probably some of the friendliest I've ever met - the bar staff, the restaurant staff (with the one exception of the manager who takes his job a bit too seriously) went out of their way to be helpful. Would also like to say a special thank you to the waitresses and chef who because we were vegetarian really tried to find something different for us to eat every night - and in France that's no easy task. Also even though it's a bit pricey a cocktail in the M bar in the hotel is a must, it's an absolutely beautiful bar and one sip of the Mojito or the Tsanteleina and you just slip right into holiday mode!
Oh and not to forget the skiing, the hotel's in a great position, literally 2 mins from the slopes and if you get a room at the back of the hotel it actually overlooks Mont Blanc.
You wont fail to have an enjoyable holiday here.

“great family hotel”

Tsanteleina Hotel

Mar 2, 2008

This is a great hotel, in a a fabulous location. Smack in the middle of town, yet only a few minutes from the gondola. Family style accomodations, and rates that include breakfast and dinner. Would return without hesitation.
