Stayed here with my husband and 1 year old. Hotel has recently been renovated, and I have to say the bedrooms are just lovely. Our's was a lovely corner room, 5 windows, with couch, flat screen TV with Free English Movie Channel, DVD player (which proved a major asset, as Barney had to be played each evening!). The hotel was situated within 3 minutes of the main town area, with the local bus stopping within 1 minute. Breakfast was self service, in a lovely room and with plenty of choice, served until 10.30. Did not get to visit the Tapas bar, what with having a child with us, but from what I could see, you enter it from a door outside and coming home one evening at 9 it did not appear open. Staff could not have been friendlier, we would have missed our bus connection it if was not for them.

We mainly visited BadenBaden for the Christmas market, which was small by city standards, but had at least 70 stalls, and the atmosphere was great, with all lights and smell of wood and drink. There was also an ice skating rink, within 100 meters of the hotel. Apart from the main town, you must visit Mount Merkur, get the 201 bus, which takes 10 minutes and then a train ride up the top of the mountain, to a great view point. All in all had a great weekend, and are looking into travelling back during the summer months to see what else there is to offer.

Very central, lovely hotel not too big, completely renovated, lovely rooms. Warm, not a partic nice view but I would definitely recommend staying there.

We stayed at thishotel in June 2007 for two nights. It's in an excellent location which is very close to the pedestrian city center, casino, and river. We had a very large, clean and cheerful room in the front corner of the building with lots of windows on two walls. We were thrilled until we tried sleep. It was very noisy with serveral groups of people visiting on the street below our windows until the early hours of the morning. The staff was very friendly and breakfast was good. I would only recommend this hotel if you can get a room away from the street..

We stayed in Hotel Merkur the first weekend in February. We found it to be a lovely hotel to stay in. It has a very central location, just a few steps away from the pedestrianised centre of the city. The hotel receptionists were all very helpful and friendly during our stay and had excellent English. Our room was large and clean and the beds were very comfortable! Breakfast in the morning was a real treat- lots of choice and all of the food appeared very fresh and nicely presented. There seemed to be no limit to the amount you could eat of any of the food choices, which was nice if you were hungry! Two small minuses to the hotel were that there was only one tv channel in English (but in fairness we were in Germany!) and the hotel did not have a proper bar. You could have a few drinks in the restaurant but as we were so convenient to everything we went to local pubs instead. The hotel does give you vouchers for drinks in their nightclub Equipage beside the casino. We availed of these and had a nice night in Equipage.
We really enjoyed our stay; Baden Baden is a lovely quiet place with lots to see and do and our central location in a very comfortable and welcoming hotel really added to the experience. We filled in the comments card at the end of our stay and received a very nice email from the hotel owner a few days later thanking us for our stay. We thought this personal touch was very nice. We hope to return to Baden Baden someday and will definitely stay again in Hotel Merkur!
