We stayed here for 2 nights in late September 2006 and enjoyed our stay at Gasthaus Hackteufel and the lovely Heidelberg itself.
The room itself was fairly basic, but neat and clean. We had a room on the first floor facing the front of the hotel overlooking the cobblestone street and the front of the restuarant - I think we were room number 1.
We never found the noise to be a problem but others might if you are sensitive to noise. In the hotel room directory they acknowledge this and say to request a room away from the road for future stays if it has been a problem.
Breakfast was included in the rate and was a small buffet. The tables were individually set up in the morning with your name on it for when you came down, which was a nice touch.
The restuarant downstairs had good food and good service.
The location is good, near the old bridge and close to the main strip of Old Town Heidelberg. It didn't take us too long to walk to Heidelberg Castle either.
Wireless internet was available in the room (for a charge) and we used it with our laptop.
Parking was at a local garage down the road - directions were given on how to get there and we found it easily.
Good value for money and a well run hotel that tries to provide that personalised touch.
