I really wanted to like this place, but i was pretty disapointed. My girlfriend and I stayed here recently and we had high hopes for the place. We are in our early 30's and on a budget so we booked a room in the attic for 70 euros. with a bath on the second floor (bath very clean, however a good walk from our room.) Our room was really old and smelled heavy of mold and a little like your grandmothers house. They bed was kind of lumpy and a everywhere was dusty. We were going to say something, but then how can you complain to an owner who has obvious pride in the place and whose family went through so much under the third reich. It also was a little creepy as we were like the only one staying in the place and one night in the bar some older gentlemen came in and started playing some sympathic music to a particular party from the 40's. It kind of freeked us out a little and we went straight to our room. In short Frau Schafenburg is super nice, the history itself of the place is amazing, especially the bunkers under the hotel. however this was the most expensive hotel of our trip and it was the most uncomfortable. All in all i am happy i stayed there at least once, however the accomadations need serious updating or a drop in price. I think there are better options around the area.
