This resort claims to be a one of a kind, luxury retreat in the German alps. For the most part, it is superb. The rooms are spacious, well lit, and boast high ceilings. The balcony is large, as well, with a (snail-paced) automated cover that can be employed to protect you from the elements should inclement weather sneak up on you. The flat-screen TV has a good selection of channels, including the standard German children's fare. Our minibar consumption -- including snack bars, chocolate bars, bottled water and juices -- was included in the room rate we selected. A water boiler with a selection of coffee and tea was on-hand. The newspaper arrived at the door punctually each day. We opted for breakfast in the room, which cost us only 2.50 each day (breakfast was included in our rate). The bathroom fixtures are high quality, separate shower, generous sized bathtub, and closed-off toilet for privacy. The toiletries are quite refreshing (macadamia and ginseng shampoo and bath gel).

The bar area is off the main lobby and is inviting with its huge open fireplace. There is a selection of over 100 single malts, and a few good local beers on tap. Afternoon coffee and cake is a pleasure as all the sweets are baked on-site by a capable pastry chef. The service in this area was competent and friendly.

The highlight of the hotel for our visit was the heated outdoor pool. My 6 year-old loves swimming pools and this was a definite treat. Although it was only about 5C outside during our late October/early November visit, we were comfortable in the 35C water! Steam rose into the twilight as we watched the distant lights twinkle from the surrounding mountains.

The only negative I can find -- and it's fairly large -- is the unbearably slow service in the restaurants. We ate three dinners in 360 Restaurant and had different staff each evening. Yet, the result was universal: long waits and forgotten items. This offering must be upgraded if the hotel is to become a true gourmet temple, as they're striving to be. One evening when my wife's main dish failed to arrive, they offered us our wine on the house -- a true rarity in the world of German hospitality.

In summary, we enjoyed our stay here and will surely travel back for a long weekend.

This is probably one of the best hotels we've ever stayed at! From the minute you walk-in to your check-out you are treated with care and attention.

The room, we were in a superior room with a balcony but no fireplace, was very clean and extremely well appointed. The ceilings are high which gives it an sense of being very open and spacious. The decor is tastefully done and cleverly brings the colours of the landscape indoors - giving everything a very natural and relaxing feel. The wall of windows gives way to absolutely magnificent views ...specially breathtaking in the mornings. The bathroom is large with fantastic amenities - great shower. There is loads of closet space ...with an iron and ironing board ...something that is often lacking in European hotels. The king size bed with individual twin comforters is very comfortable. The rooms are very soundproof - you don't hear walking above, noise in the hallway, etc., very relaxing and cozy.

The restaurants and food were fantastic. We ate at two (of three) restaurants and were very impressed with the food and service quality. The lounge boasts a huge fireplace that you can sit around and have a relaxing drink after your meal. The only drawback is that everyone seems to smoke ...but this is Europe ...you have to be prepared for this ...if you want fresh air you'll have to step outside!

This is a high quality hotel, very romantic with loads of things to do in and around the hotel. We stayed here instead of in Salzburg and we didn't regret it - the drive into Salzburg is max 30 mins ...and there is ample parking even at the height of the tourist season in Salzburg ...so no need to stay in Salzburg if you have a car.

A bit pricey but well worth the treat ...the views alone are well worth it.

The views to the Alps are wonderful in all directions. The hotel hides away in a small valley approx 20km from the highway from Munich to Salzburg on the german/austrian border. The hotel is typical of the intercontinental standard with large rooms (by european standards), excellent service and good food choice. The hotel is large and sapcious with a stunning garden that overlooks the Alps and Eagles Nest specifically. At the end of Sept there was a small amont of building work, but this did not intrude. The hotel is modern in design and build. One word of caution, the highway between Munich and Salzberg ihas serious road works approx 75 km East of Muinch which can delay the journey time by up to 40 mins.

This is a great hotel and one that deserves it Leading Hotel Status. The rooms were great with fantastic views and the service was excellent. The food was of a very high standard and catered very well for children although not many seemed to stay here. The spa is lovely but treatments get booked up very fast and it is probably best to book them before you arrive if you can. In fact it was almost faultless. My only tiny quibbles were being charged for the internet and for parking in their underground car park which just seemed petty for such a prestigious hotel. Overall though very highly recommended.
