Just can't say enough about this hotel, so will stick to what really stood out. I have earned about 150,000 points with IC this year, so had a few to use a great choice. We were upgraded to a 2 storey suite, which is what the photos are of. The hotel is modern, but not trendy. It is warm and also friendly. The staff are simply the best we have ever seen (and my wife is a hotel manager!). Playing chess with my son by the fire, swimming through to the outside in the pool, the amazing spa, excellent food...what can I say. 25 minutes outside of Salzburg (lovely Austrian city)...and an hour north of where we went skiing (althoug you can also ski at this hotel). Run there. Now.

This place is wunderbar! We stayed two nights here and would have stayed another week if we had the time. This is a new resort, exquisitely designed with a modern alpine style - lots of wood, stone, large spaces and great views within a horseshoe-shaped building. No doubt this property will soon be featured in the pages of high-end travel magazines. Our room was large with a very comfortable bed, flat screen television and lovely balcony with courtyard and partial mountain view. The bathroom was beautiful with lots of stone and glass, but the overall lighting could have been slightly better. We wore the provided robes and slippers to the spa downstairs. The indoor pool was tepid and we followed up our swim with a few sessions in two saunas (different temperatures), a fantastic steam room and a unique meditation room with water mattresses. Our only major disappointment was finding the proclaimed heated outdoor pool closed for renovation. We dined at the hotel for one lunch and one dinner - both were excellent. The staff were exceptionally friendly, happy and easy to converse with. The lounge and library were nice in the evening with a piano player and a truly diverse collection of whiskeys and cocktails. If you stay here, consider taking a car or be prepared to pay between 10 and 15 euros for taxis to and from the center of Berchtesgaden (the hotel is well up the hill from the village). Also, review your bill carefully upon check-out as they had included two incorrect checks/charges. These were removed without a problem. Overall, a stunning property in a very scenic and historic place. We will definitely go back.

What a wonderful Hotel - absolutely gorgeous. Staff very attentive, food lovely (although have had better apart from the breakfasts which you pay for but are well worth it) swimmingpool/sauna/spa very luxurious and the rooms themselves which are lovely. Cant make any other comment other than what has been mentioned already - vis smoking though - lots of people were smoking in the restaurants although we could never smell anything thank goodness. Bar area and lounge is great too and they have Germany's largest whiskey collection - very impressive. The only thing I would advise however is a car as you are up in the mountains and the bus service is sporadic. Wish too that we had left more time for the Dokumentations centre nearby - fascinating. A ski resort in winter and a 9 hole golfcourse in summer. WE are definitely going back as we had such a wonderful time.

This resort must be experienced to be believed! Our teenage daughter has stayed in 5 star places right round the world, but the Inter Continental Resort Berchtesgaden even wowed her! The views are magnificent. The service is superb. The facilities are first class. The indoor and outdoor pools are marvellous. Other hoteliers should check this place out, to set their aim higher! Stay at least 3 days - we found 2 not long enough!
