Although we booked our hotel through Expedia I would never recommend anyone using their services, for a hotel or otherwise. That said, we recently visited Munich for the Christmas markets. The location of the Maritim Hotel is excellent, just a short block from the train station and only a few minutes walk to the Marienplaz. The staff was warm and friendly upon our arrival and even arranged for us to have 3 rooms next to one another. The rooms were clean, nicely appointed, and very quiet. I did have a problem with the room being too hot, even with the heat turned off, but this was easily remedied by opening the window.

We spent a few evenings in the lounge unwinding from a long day of sightseeing. The service in the lounge was excellent; however, like us, if you do not smoke I would recommend that you sit nearest to the entrance as Germany has not yet banned smoking in restaurants.

I would not hesitate to stay again at the Maritim and I certainly recommend it to others who are looking for a nice hotel in a good location with good service.

Not as nice as the Berlin Maritim Hotel, but ok. Nicely located but old fashioned. Nice staff.

Munich is a fantastic city with some of the most remarkable restaurants and sight-seeing in Germany. The Maritim is a clean, decent, full-service hotel with a pool and intermittent spa facilities, in what feels like one of the dingy corners of this great city. It's very close to the Train, which is brilliant for getting in and out of town. I would never say, "Oh, you HAVE to stay in the Maritim," but I WOULD say "if you're looking for comfortable sleep and convenience, it's more than acceptable."
