Stayed here over new year's eve

We had booked a non smoking room in this hotel a few weeks before arrival. And what a surprise when we arrived there: we could not even have booked a smoking one ;-) The receptionist informed us that the Royal had gone completely non smoking over the winter, being now the only non smoking hotel in the inner city of Munich. And what a difference that made! Non smoking everywhere! Clean air in the lobby, clean air in the room, clean air in the hallways, clean air virtually everywhere :-D Oh boy, we were so enthusiastic about the lack of stinky cigarette smell!

Ok, as for the rest of the hotel: nice, clean, but nothing really special. As others have mentioned, complimentary WiFi internet. Great breakfeast buffet and of course the super central location next to the main train station. Rooms on the smallish side but okay for the price. The area is not nice, that's right, but it's not that bad either. It's definitely not unsafe (nowhere in Munich, for that matter), only not very beautiful.

All in all a very pleasant experience and a great NON SMOKING hotel! Oh boy, smokers really are a nuisance! :-D

This was our 5th stay at the Hotel Royal and we were thrilled, as always! The location is super, our room (#36) was large, bright, quiet and clean, and the free wireless was a real bonus. The Breakfast Buffet offers much more than many hotels in Germany and is delicious. The staff is friendly and helpful and they welcomed us back with handshakes and smiles. Can't wait to return.

We stayed at this property for ten days in August with another family. Both families were pleased with the location, super cleanliness of the rooms and the generous breakfast. The staff was helpful when asked for transportation information. The two teens in our group were happy with the wireless, allowing them to check on the next day's travel plans. Our rooms were typical European; on the small side, but really quite adequate. We will return the next time we're in Munich.
