My wife and I stayed at this hotel and found it to be pleasant. It is in a very convenient location for travel by train as the Hauptbahnof is at the end of the street which gives you easy access to regional, intercity and the airport trains, there was no need for a cab to the station. Hotel is also only a 5 minute walk into Marienplatz (main sq. or street)

Room was clean, bathroom modern and beds were comfortable. Staff were helpful and there was free internet access in the lobby.

After having read all other reviews in various sites, we were delighted to find out that it was all 'false alarm'. Everything was great about this hotel! The rooms were enormous, very clean and modern, breakfast was just great, the receptionists very polite and everything was great in general!!!
I would definitely recommend it!

We had a bad experience at this hotel.

First, there wasn't a day when the housekeeping was satisfactory - glasses not taken way or replaced, bathroom not cleaned etc.

Second, on arrival the hotel blocked my credit card for a large sum (much more than the cost of the room, and despite their assurances, failed to unblock it, with the result that I could not use the credit card throughout my stay in Germany. Ironically, I was unable even to pay for my stay in the Mercure Hotel with the card. If I had not had other cards, my stay in Germany would have come to a premature end.

I sent an email of complaint through the Mercure hotels web-site, but they did not bother to reply.

We shall not be staying in Mercure hotels again.

This was my third visit to Munich and I have never failed to enjoy my stay in this brilliant city.

The Mercure is well located and the rooms are comfortable enough with ample sized beds, modern bathrooms and an overall satisfactory level of accommodation.

My criticisms are:

1) Clothing was taken from the room (maybe by a careless maid when gathering towels/linen etc...)

2) Perfume was also taken from the room which is quite unexplainable??

3) The hotel staff promised to investigate the problems above and keep us informed. They haven't and the items are still missing??

4) We were told the hotel bar was open until 1am but if you return any time after 11.30pm the hotel staff do not hide their disgust at having to serve you when the bar is otherwise empty.

5) Everytime you leave your room, the key card becomes defunct. Meaning several trips up and downstairs to reception to reactivate the cards.

In summary I would, and do, return to Munich time after time, but I would ideally stay in 'Le Meridien' which totally outclasses its lesser neighbour the Mercure.
