I confess I was surprised to read the previous reviews given my experience only a couple of days ago. I was staying on the 2nd floor overlooking the station. The location is very central but because of this there isn't much of a view. The seal around my windows had obviously perished, so maintenance decided that some brown packing tape would do the job instead. This was only one of many disappointments. First of all the bathroom - large, but much in need of refurbishing, cracked tiles, even a cracked lavatory and the grouting around the tub in terrible conditions, to make matters worse the ceiling over the shower was covered in mould. In the bedroom a socket had been damaged to pieces and the upholstery was in dire need of either steam cleaning (stains, etc.) or simply renewing. The lighting is very poor (two bed side lamps and a small unit by the chair), which is probably just as well, so you couldn't see to much of the grime... (the carpet looked brand new though). I am sure the maids were doing their best to keep it clean, but this was a case of basic maintenance, rather than day to day housekeeping. As for the rest of the hotel, I only had breakfast. This was adequate but I have seen far superior buffets in hotel of the same category.
All in all, I may have been desperately unlucky, even so, a four star central hotel should ensure all rooms offer similar standards, not just a few.
