“Good experience with this hotel”

The Mark Hotel is a decent hotel. It's located near the Hauptbahnhof (main train station). The hotel is located on street with a couple youth hostels, small hotels, small ethnic grocery shops, and a few places to eat. There's a pizza stand on the corner and Italian restaurant on this street. If you need to find a large grocery store, you can find one in the basement of Hertie's department store (located across the street from Hauptbahnhof)

The hotel lobby and hallways to the rooms are not impressive. The actual rooms and dinning area for breakfast are nice. As a nice perk, there is one PC with free Internet access in the lobby. The hotel staff was friendly.

The hotel room is nice/clean and good size (European standards). The room came with a little refrigerator, small safe, 8 hangers in the closet, and comfortable bed. The bathroom is a bit awkward since it's small and the shower stall is very cramped.

Breakfast is included with your room. The hotel breakfast dinning area was clean and the dinning staff was friendly. Breakfast was severed buffet style consisting of coffee, orange juice, milk, cereal, cold cuts, croissant, small Bavarian pretzels, breads, yogurt, fruits, scramble eggs, soft boiled eggs, cheeses, and a few other items.

I would recommend staying at the Mark Hotel.

“Not a good hotel, please spare yourself”

First off, the hotel wasn't the worst I've ever stayed in, but it was NOT worth the money. The ONLY way I would ever stay here again is if I were paying about US$30 and no more.

The room size was pretty decent for Europe, however the bathroom was cramped and oddly laid out. The plumbing looked old, and the fixtures were big and ugly.

The linens on the bed were terrible. My fiance and I were there in November, and even with it being somewhat cold out, they didn't provide extra blankets (only a very thin blanket, flat sheet, and a pillow that was so thin it might as well have not even been there). I also didn't like the fact that the king bed was really two twins pushed together, and they didn't even have king sheets on it to make it look like a king. The first night was the worst I've ever spent in a hotel/motel/RV... the room was absolutely FREEZING. My fiance went to the front desk and when he told them they just said "oh, sorry," very unsincere. They didn't let him take any extra blankets, wouldn't help fix the radiator (which was cold to the touch and no amount of fiddling with it helped). I had to spend the whole night with sweatpants, two pairs of socks, a shirt and two sweaters on, and I was STILL cold!

It's really too bad that we booked ahead with Expedia. It's not Expedia's fault, but we were obliged to stay there or lose our money. When we first arrived at the hotel from the nearby train station (one reason we chose the hotel), we were very discouraged. The area isn't the best - lots of shady characters roaming about because of the bus station, and there were quite a few bars and strip clubs around. There didn't seem to be any decent restaurants nearby. In fact, the ONLY good thing about the location was that it was within easy walking distance to the Marienplatz (but there were also many hotels closer, which looked MUCH nicer). I really wouldn't recommend staying anywhere on the street the Mark Hotel is on.

Close to the train station but in area that is not "eye candy" but is still safe. The hotel is clean but a little bland and getting close to needing a make over. However, it was fine and a good place to "just sleep."

This hotel is so close to the hauptbahnhof, so if you are traveling by train, this is a wonderful choice, very easy. It is within walking distance to the main walking area. The room was clean and neat. Had a great price and wonderful breakfast.

I got a large room here with shared bathroom (which I had to myself as there were few others around) at off-peak rates which were very reasonable. Handy to train station and very quiet. The room itself was large, clean and comfortable. Free internet access (1 PC) downstairs. The downside was the staff - uninterested to the point of being rude. Maybe they are used to dealing with large groups of drunken tourists, but a dose of smiles and happiness (particularly at breakfast) would give the place a higher rating.
