This must be Munich's best kept secret. We booked after reading some other reviews. We had a large, clean, quiet triple room. The breakfast was great and the hospitality was fabulous! Make sure you try Gunthers Midnight Punch... like Gluhwein but much better! We will be back!!

After leaving Munich for a few days, I decided I wanted to make a second trek back for the night, and called Hotel Kindl a week before I arrived. Luckily, they had one single left, and the lady of the hotel priced it out for 35 euros for, no breakfast included.

I was kind of expecting something less than homey for the price, but was delighted with what I found. It was a very basic single room, narrow and a bit gloomily lit, but the bed was comfortable and clean, there was a sink and soap, a closet, and a TV. I was on the tippy top floor, having booked so last minute, but I didn't mind it. There is NO lift, so be ready to trek up the winding staircase with your luggage. The WC is right around the corner, but there is only 1 public shower I think, and it's on the first floor. Clean shower, sink and toilet, with amenties for your use.

Like I said, I only needed it for the night, but it was great for what it was. I didn't try the breakfast, or the bar. There is no 24 hour reception, so you can come and go as you like as long as you have your key. The lady, Renate I think, was a wonderful host and very friendly. The neighborhood is alright but truly convenient - just a few minutes from Marienplatz! I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed at the Munchner Kindl early in our trip, then recommended it to our college-age kids who were doing some traveling on their own. The location can't be beat and Renate is one of the kindest hoteliers we've ever met. Now, to be completely honest, there is nothing fancy about this place at all. The rooms are simple and the bathrooms are small. The breakfast is fine, but nothing to get excited about. But the price is just right for folks who like to stay in European style hotels when they travel and don't want to blow their budget on overpriced accommodations. While there is nothing fancy, there is nothing at all wrong either. The little neighborhood bar downstairs is quaint and cozy & a perfect place for a nightcap. The regulars made us feel welcome. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is a gem! My husband and I arrived here very tired after a long flight to Dusseldorf directly followed by a train ride to Munich. Renate, the owner, greeted us by name and was very warm and welcoming. She gave us a quick overview of the city and recommended some places to eat that were better and less expensive than the tourist places.

The hotel is centrally located, about 10 minutes walking from the train station and two short blocks to the pedestrian zone. We could walk everywhere which saved us money on taxis.

The hotel itself is very clean and the room we had was big by European standards. It even had a small sitting area with a couch, table and chairs. The bathroom was one of the most spacious, clean and modern we had in our 20 day trip throughout Europe. My very tall husband also appreciated the larger shower.

There is a neighborhood bar below the hotel where you are served a very nice breakfast each morning. You are also welcome, of course, to get a drink there in the evenings if you wish.

Renate makes this hotel special. She recommends great places to eat, is very hospitable and goes out of her way to help you. Another thing we appreciated was her promptness in emailing us back before our trip.

I highly recommend this hotel for the rooms, bathrooms, cleanliness, location and the wonderful hostess, Renate. You won't be disappointed.
