As per other reviews, this accommodation is in an superb location - it is part of / over a small bar on a street immediatly adjacent to the main pedestrian, shopping area of Munich city centre and within walking distance to the main sights. The area around the hotel itself also contains some sights & nice restaurants. It is convenient to the main railway station and tram lines. The room was clean and tidy with a small en-suite. The street outside maybe noisy for a while on a Friday or Saturday night with passing late night socialites on their way home. However, if you're out socialising on the town yourself, that probably is not going to be a major problem! There were no noisy people out on the Sunday & Monday nights however! The old, authentic bar with its range of wall clocks was where a more than adequate breakfast was served: cereals, meats, cheeses, breads, etc. For the location, cozy atmosphere and for the authentic & friendly experience provided by the Bavarian hostess, Renata, who also gave top advice regarding places to see, drink & eat in Munich and who added another interesting dimension to my trip to Munich, I am awarding this accommodation the "excellent rating" on this review.

We did not have a good experience. Our non smoking room was very smoky and lots of noise from the street. We had the smallest bathroom we have ever seen. A nightclub two doors down meant many people were smoking out on the street and talking loudly late into the night. It was impossible for us to have our window open.

We ended up needing to move to another hotel for health reasons . The smoke coming into the rooms from other rooms, hallway and through open windows was awful. I have asthma and my teenage children are allergic to smoke. When we told management that we needed to leave early, they wanted us to pay for all the nights which we had reserved. But we eneded up agreeing to pay for one extra night. It was worth it to not be sick for our entire stay.

If you are not happy with small places or can not be around cigarette smoke, this is not the hotel for you.

We stayed at this very comfortable hotel in Munich for 3 nights. The hotel is very close to Marianplatz and takes about 5 min by walk. Munchner-Kindl is not one of those big, impersonal hotels - it is quite small and has a total family-run feel to it which was very nice. Our room itself was clean and neat, though small, and the bathroom was the tinitest I've ever seen - it was basically a cupboard convered to a restroom. However, since small bathrooms are quite common in Europe, my husband and I didn't have a problem with it. The hotel has a paid garage right across the street and we had to pay additional parking of about 10 euros a day. Overall, at about 100 euros a night with parking and breakfast, this was a good choice for us right in downtown Munich.

I have just returned from a trip to Munich with 6 colleagues from work (this was a social trip) and we stayed at this hotel after reading the reviews on this site. Renate at the hotel could not have been more helpful during the booking process, exchanging numerous emails with me to tie the details down. The rooms are basic and small and the beds are chummy (one bed but with two mattresses) but the hotel is clean, quiet and has a small bar which is really all we needed. We were made very welcome here and in the city itself which is just a stones throw away, the location of the hotel is ideal. We enjoyed the city walk we went on which left from the front of the new town hall and also the various beer halls. Access from the airport is also simple, down the stairs onto the S8 and about 40 minutes to the Marienplatz. There are also a number of bars/restaurants that stay open a few hours longer then the central bars near the hotel. If you are looking for a clean straightforward place to stay in the centre of Munich I would certainly recommend the Hotel Munchner Kindl.
