I've been waiting to review this hotel.(wasn't quite sure how to review it) This hotel was nice for the price. Near city center and main train station. The breakfast was nice. Very basic room, insulation not so great if you're near the breakfast hall. Staff was wonderful!!!
I may have been a little harsher in my review had it not been for the staff.

“okay... but nothing amazing”

Stayed here for one night for oktoberfest. Cost us a fortune (but thats oktoberfest for you). Our triple room was big enough, the breakfast ok, the bathroom pretty good.

Only hassle was the line to pay by credit card was down, so we had to go get cash. Would have been a huge problem if you had a huge bill.

“Directly above a Strip Club”

Whatever you do, do not stay here, unless you want to feel like you are in a brothel. If you do want to stay at a brothel, well I guess you will feel right at home. I am not a prude and don't mind having strip clubs in the area, and understand that staying close to the train station might not be the best of neighborhoods, but I did not expect to be directly above a strip club and have to listen to the noises you hear from a strip club (I am sure you can imagine the noises) all night long. And I mean all night since I barely slept the two nights we spent at this hell hole.
We booked a "family room" which was said to have a loft. I realize this was a translation problem, because I guess to them loft means bunk bed. So they just pushed a table to the side and added a bunk bed to a regular very small room and called it a "family room" for 4. Unless you have two very small children and no one needs to move around in the room, like to get dressed, then this isn't a good plan. Especially for over 115 euros a night. I would never ever, ever, stay here again and I feel sorry for anyone who does.

“What a waking nightmare!”

While booking in, two happy-go-lucky backpackers told reception that they just loved staying there. I have no idea what they meant. Upon our arrival we discovered that our room faced west and the late afternoon sun was turning it into an inferno! We closed the curtains and fled to the English Gardens for a beer festival. Upon our return, the room was still a scorcher with no fan, no air conditioner and facing a very, very noisy street. We had no choice, we had to lie there with the windows open. By around 3am we had two choices: Find a new hotel or find a fan. I asked downstairs and wonder of wonders: They had fans available if you cared to ask. Why not put a fan in every room in such heat? It was not able to cool down the room, but at least the fan enabled us to close the windows and get three hours of sleep. The lady in the breakfast room was just as grumpy as the other tired guests. Surely there must be better hotels at this price!

Munich is fantastically beautiful and romantic. Go there if you can, but stay closer to Marienplatz.

“Do Not BOOK this place”

Hotel Italia

We made reservations for this motel on the internet. Reviewing the pictures it looked fine but when we arrived we were very dissatisfied with the accomadations. The rooms were not clean, holes in the wall, the curtains were not even completely hung on the rods. We booked two rooms, one was acceptable (on a limited basis, as we were a couple thousand miles from home and we needed a place to stay!!) The other room was downstairs, very smelly, dirty ( we did not want to touch the bed linen in fear of what might be lurching beneath, and most of all a fire hazard.
The door for the fire escape was blocked by sink and toilet parts. The bathroom and shower (combo) and I mean combo as they were one and probaly only 3 feet by 3 feet!!
We did sleep down in the dugeon(as I called it). Several guest that had booked on the internet were complaining at the service desk, one man and women refused to stay-one lady was in tears as she had booked for two weeks, two other ladies were desperately trying to find other accomadations, but because this was booked on the internet the hotel Italia stated they could not do a refund and that they would have to contact the site where they booked for an further assistance. The service desk representative could of cared less and did not try to assist with any complaints- the second night we absolutely refused to stay in the dugeon-so finally they did give us a different room that was upstairs and a bit cleaner. to sum it up-this place is NOT a place to rest your head if you are
traveling. VERY VERY BAD
