Have you ever walked into a hotel room late at night and exhausted from traveling, looked around and wanted to burst into tears? Welcome to the Dolomit. The room was cell-like. Our two medium-sized pieces of luggage filled the floor space. Carpet while vacuumed was ugly and brown. The bathroom was so tiny I could not stretch my arms out and smelled of urine, and the shower curtain was old as were the orange threadbare towels. Having requested a quiet room and being assured that we had received one, was more than annoyed that even with closed windows and earplugs we could still hear the traffic outside and the bathroom fan which continually sputtered on & off, loudly. The only reason we didn't go somewhere else is that we had arrived late and were leaving @ 6am for the airport. As it was, slept about 3 hours in an uncomfortable, scarred-wood bed with large smelly pillows. Directions provided to our next day destination by the admittedly friendly and nice front desk staff were incorrect. Positives: close to train station, a few blocks' walk from underground, complimentary sewing kit and they did give us a free overnight parking space. Negatives: see above. Admittedly I had not stayed in a 2-star hotel before, but in future I will be spending the extra 10euros and staying at the Rivoli.
