we stayed at the Steigenberger city for two nights, we picked it based on a pretty cheap price and good reviews. overall the hotel was decent in pretty much every way.

the location of the hotel seemed good on the map, but having never been to the city I was a bit surprised by the neighborhood. while finding our way towards the Zeil in the evening we stumbled across some very shabby streets with odd looking "bars" and not too friendly looking people, drunks and other odd characters. we also stumbled across the 'City Hotel' of which you can read some pretty interesting stories about in regards of the neighborhood. the walk to Zeil in the end wasn't more than five minutes but I would rather make it from a different direction.

with the location being the worst detail, the hotel itself was ok with decent rooms, nothing fancy but ok for the price. hallways were extremely washed out and musky, rooms were definately cleaner and nicer. staff was friendly and the hotel restaurant was a positive surprise for a late night snack. it was also our only hope since there were absolutely no places to get food nearby.

overall not much to complain about the place itself, more about the surroundings which felt a bit uncomfortable especially during weekend nights. if I'd come to the city again, I would definately pick a hotel located somewhere else around the downtown area.

We got a great price on this property, via Travelocity. We were quite jetlagged from our trans-Atlantic flight, but the staff immediately made us at ease, addressing any and all questions we asked. Parking is convenient and attached, for a nominal fee. Staff speaks excellent English. The location of the property, near Sachsenhausen, many museums, and Roemerberg, is its main strength...much to see, do, and eat within walking distance. Rooms are appointed well and are very comfortable.

We just returned from 4 nights, 26th July to 30th July. (We travelled From Edinburgh for a city break).

We flew into the airport and via the hotel our city break started in style, we were picked up in a limousine, door to door service.
The hotel is super, as the say very staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was very nice; we were on the L wing which was very quite. We rated the breakfast as the best we have had in a hotel for years!
We rate this as hotel as highly recommended excellent value for money.

This is a clean, decently appointed hotel. It was close to the river which was nice, but not close enough to public transportation for me. We arrived early in the day (before noon) and had no problem checking in. The only negative I have is that you can't rely on the front desk staff for any type of direction or information. They were most un-helpful but despite that I would reccomend a stay here.
