“Great hostel for a short break!”

Hostel Frankfurt

Dec 31, 2007

2 friends and I stayed for 1 night in this great hostel in Dec 07. We were there to visit the Christmas markets.

What a great hostel, great price, close to the station and free pasta on a Saturday night - what more could you want! It has a great kitchen / living area, where you check in/out, can buy beers and can use the kitchen facilities. Very social! The only downfall to the free pasta was the HEAVY music playing VERY loud, but it soon become manageable with a few beers.

The hostel was very clean and tidy, we had a 3 bed room with private bathroom. Unfortunatly on returning home on the Sat eve we found the door was loose on its bottom hinge and therefore did not open/close properly and we had to change room. The guy on reception did help - but I got the impression he didn't want to.

Other info...
The hostel has plenty of internet availability, its accessed via a lift as the reception in on the 2nd foor. It has some communual toilets which were also spotless, and the 1st room we had did have a hairdryer - the 2nd didn't. Both rooms had TV and a small towel

It was a good 10 minute walk from the markets and situated right next door to the WOS (world of sex), but it didn't seem too bad. There were 3 of us (girls) walking about together and we felt quite safe.

We didn't hear any noise on the floor we ended up sleeping on, and our rooms had all we needed. I would certainly recommend this hostel to anyone on a short break looking for a good base.

I was travelling with 2 friends and we had a 3 bed private room. It came to about $30 each per night which wasn't bad. There was a bit of noise early in the morning, but hey, it's a hostel and you get what you pay for. Being near the train station, it's in a pretty seedy part of town. It's among a 3 block area with sex shops everywhere. I wasn't bothered by the area, but neither of the 2 girls I was with would walk around the area alone at night. For convenience to the train station you can't beat it. Exit the train station and walk across the street. 2 minutes tops.

“Frankfurt Hostel really social!”

I arrived at Frankfurt Hostel after a tiring trip from Rome. I was really happy to have the Hostel so close to the train station, busses taxis and other trams etc. On my first day, I met somebody who showed me a bit of town there, then I went to sleep from five in the afternoon till ten the next morning. The internet room was really good to have and cheap too. Then, on Saturday, they had a free spaghetti night. This was really fun and I met so many people in the lounge/reception/eating area where everyone came together to eat and socialize. They have a bar there too, which some people were enjoying immensly. In the day, there was a walking city tour which was really informative and got me out and about town. Frankfurt has a lot of history I never new of before I came, and the river is really close to the Hostel too! The staff were great, the rooms were comfortable and clean, but I think the atmosphere of the travellers that this place manages to attract and bring together really makes the place. I really had a good stay at Frankfurt Hostel.

“Basic and functional”

I stayed at this hostel for two nights in December when I was on my own in Frankfurt. For a person traveling alone, the price can't be beat, and it is nice to have people around that you can talk to if you want. There is cheap internet access, which was nice so that I could verify that flights were on time before my 4:30 am trip to the airport (although 8 out of 12 computers weren't working for the duration of my stay, and when I went in that morning to check, there was a guy in there who told me that the internet cafe was closed. I insisted that I would only stay a couple minutes and he didn't stop me.).
I want to mention some things I read in summer reviews of the hostel that have apparently changed since then: There is no free spaghetti dinner, and the breakfast is müsli and milk, not lavish as some earlier reviews reported. There are also no longer lockers in the rooms if you bring your own lock, but hallway pay lockers.
For the price it was exactly what was expected, and there is a meal of the day served nightly for a decent price. Staff was friendly enough, and there was a common room to hang out in.

“Met so many fun people”

This hostel was aLOT of fun. The rooms were sufficient - each with their own bathroom. The location was great for any kind of fun. The breakfast room was a great place to meet people, have drinks, have coffee, use the internet for free if you have your own computer. It was open 24 hours with someone at the reception ready to serve and help.

Don't count on actually having breakfast for free here. It's only cornflakes. The coffee was good, though. The website is a little out of date. There are not any city tours and there is no spaghetti dinner on Saturday nights. Regardless, you can use the kitchen to prepare your own food. It's small, but functions.

Being there in August could be a bit biased because everyone is on holiday at that time and traveling for fun. Regardless, it's clean and friendly.
