“Very clean and in a great location. Bargain!”
Stayed in the Sur late November and found it an absolute bargain. At the price it charges, you are looking for cleanlines and not a lot more. I paid less than £30 a night in a large twin room by myself and it was spotless, so was the reception and the corridors. The only luxury is a small lounge behind the reception.
The room had a (small) TV, a phone and a large bathroom with plenty of towels. Although the hotel was busy I found it very quiet, the window faces an inner courtyard, if you like looking at plain white concrete walls then it's a good view. Overall, if I was nitpicking I would say that the beds were not that comfy, and I tried both.
A good point (in this price range) is that the reception is manned 24 hours, three different guys seemed to operate on shifts and all three were efficient and polite.
Outside there are numerous cafe's & bars right on the doorstep, and weirdly, a late night Russian produce shop that is convenient. The main shopping street (Larios) is only across the road (1min) and although the street outside is a little seedy, at the pace the Malaga is going upmarket I don't think it will be long before that is sorted.
Unless you are looking for a luxury break then I don't see why you would spend double the price 100m away across the Alameda. IMO it is way too cheap for it's location and cleanliness.
