“Excellent Location”

Melia Palas Atenea

Have just returned from five days at the Melia Palas Atenea and thoroughly enjoyed it. The location was excellent, as mentioned previously it is worth up-grading to the sea/cathedral view as it is spectacular. It is a good 20-25 minutes walk to the shopping centre but that isn't a problem as it is along the harbour all the way.
The breakfasts are outstanding and offer everything you can think of including cava and red/white wine.

The outdoor pool area is very nice, supplying towels and a pleasant life-guard, so don't take any beach towels. I thought the indoor pool was a little run down and not very inviting.
We had a massage whilst there as they offer a full range of beauty treatments and would certainly recommend that.

Palma itself has some excellent restaurants near the cathedral and the most we paid for two people was 60 euros. Went on the bus tour but was a little disappointed as it took us around the backstreets and there wasn't an awful lot to see!

My only criticism with the hotel is that it is a little dated and does need refurbishment, however for the price I would certainly stay there again.

Great location. Noise from road not a problem double glazing and air conditioning work well.Absolute must to pay the extra and get sea and cathedral view, stunning! Sitting on the balcony at the end of an evening with a brandy [ bought very cheaply from local store] soaking up the atmosphere from the street admiring the boats in the marina and the cathedral all lit up, priceless.
Do get a high floor we were on the highest [8th] well worth it.
As everybody says the breakfast was wonderful.Staff were friendly and helpful. Lots of good restaurants and bars either side of the hotel don't need to go into Palma for night life.Talking of restaurants if you like curry, turn left out of the hotel and just a short stroll - set back from the road - you will find Mughal indian tandoori. Well ,I've had a few curries in my time, I didn't think I was going to have my best ever in Palma , truly wonderful!!
To sum up we had a great seven days and we wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

“Wonderful Atenea”

Our party of six were very happy with the Melia Palas Atenea on our 4 day break. The staff were friendly enough, the breakfasts were outstanding and the location was good, 5 euros in a taxi to the centre of Palma or a beautiful walk along passed the marina and some of the biggest yachts you will ever see. The pool area was great plenty of space and a nice bar to cool down at. Although we didn't have a cathedral view we did have a sea view of the marina. Our rooms were great, large and clean and well maintained. Flights and hotel were booked through flyglobespan. In summary I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this hotel.

“Pleasant Hotel”

Melia Palas Atenea

Thought this was a lovely hotel.
The check in was very quick. The lifts were a little strange but easy to get used to, you just need to press the floor number you require in order to request the lift and once you step in it'll take you directly to that floor.
The room was pretty spacious and spotless. As our room was on the side, the balcony view we had to the front of the hotel was the lovely marina, and to the back was a run down disused swimming pool which was not so nice.
The only issue I really had was with the concierge who was very unhelpful. We asked if he could book us a restaurant we had heard of - this seemed to be a great effort for him - then he came back and advised it was fully booked (wouldn't be surprised if he hadn't bothered!) and then never offered any other recommendations.
Its a nice walk into Palma from the hotel and there are some great restaurants - favourites were El Pillon, Forn de sant joan and Giovannis.
We went to the beach at Illetes - just a short bus ride from palma on the number 3. Its only a small cove but really beautiful and lively at the weekend.
Overall I would definitely go to Palma again and would recommend Melia Palas Antenea as a great place to stay.
