We stayed at the ‘Tryp Bosque’ in early September 2007. The hotel is a bit deceptive from the front and is a lot bigger than you think. I would not say that this hotel was full, and the vast majority of guest were Spanish although there was a good smattering other nationalities, including a number a aircrew from ‘Air Berlin’
The room were clean and tidy, and were cleaned and beds made every day, the rooms appeared to have been recently redecorated and the staff were helpful and friendly.
The only negative thing I would say about the hotel is that the whole hotel was decorated in a similar fashion, not that’s a particular bad thing, but all floors look the same, this combined with the fact that the reception area was on the fourth floor (this identifies on the lift as ‘0’ which was confusing) and the breakfast area was on the third floor (the hotel was obviously built on the incline) this added to a sense of confusion. I lost count of the number of time I went up or down the wrong stairs and went down the wrong corridors, some more signs would helped considerably, (or was it just me.)
The room we had, had a strange ‘wardrobe’ arrangement, which when we finally got it open contained a sink and electric cooker (very strange), so obviously some if not all the rooms have or are used as apartments, that being said this did not detract from the room which I have said earlier was clean and tidy, with adequate storage with air condition which work well, so much so that you don’t need it on all the time. The bathroom was a reasonable size and again was very clean, although it did show some signs of wear and tear (a few cracked tiles, small crack in the toilet seat, and the cistern could had a few chips in it), but I emphasis it was spotlessly clean. There was also no tea/coffee in the room, there was a fridge (nothing in it though) and there was satellite TV, but I would say that for English speaking guest the channels were ‘limited’.
The breakfast was very good, with one of the best choices of food I have seen in a hotel, there was a good selection of fresh fruit and meats, cooked food (beacon, eggs, sausages etc) to toast, fruit juices and local delicacies, there really was something for everyone.
The outdoor swimming pool was a good size (with a lifeguard), with enough sun beds for everyone, it never really appeared to get that busy to quiet honest, the only thing I would say is that because of the height of the hotel, this did tend to mask the sunlight to some extent, but there was a sun lounge area which was in a better position. There was also and indoor pool which was out of action whilst we were there, they were working on it at the time, I can only presume this would be open during the winter months.
There is an excellent bus services (the number 3) into Palma itself which runs from Avenda De Joan Miro, just walk down C. Camilo Jose Cela from the hotel, turn left on to the Avenda De Joan Miroand its on the right approx a quarter of a mile on the right, opposite the chemist and the bank, on the way back from Palma the bus actually stops at the bottom of the C. Camilo Jose Cela, next to the taxi rank. Then just walk up to the hotel itself, it’s literally a two minute walk (oh yes the taxi rank is very near as well) the total cost of a journey into central Palma (Plaza Espanya) is €1.10. The only negative thing I would say about transport is the fact that there’s no car park at the hotel, and the streets around the hotel are chocker block with cars, (although there a underground 24 hour car park near the taxi rank/bus stop).
Overall I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel, as I have said previously its very clean and tidy with a very good breakfast selection; its position is very good (20 - 25 minute walk in Palma) cheap bus services in the centre etc. It all added up to a very enjoyable stay (and the weather was gorgeous, around 30c every day) what more could you want.
