“Not good value”

Hotel Nixe Palace

We stayed here for a family holiday (parents and 2 teenage daughters). I had stayed here last year with one of my daughters and we loved it. But on return we were very disappointed. We had booked two double rooms with balcony/sea view. When we arrived we were told that we had been upgraded to a suite the following day so we didn't unpack. The next day we were taken to the suite which was two really tiny bedrooms (if you were in bed you could touch the walls on either side) looking out onto the sea but with a public balcony. So you would have to have the curtains drawn at all times if you didn't want people to see you. OK, it had a kitchen and sitting room but if we had wanted to be self catering we would have booked that. So we went to reception and said we wanted to move - it was a downgrade not an upgrade. They were quite rude but agreed - but we were really hassled out quickly. The hotel was full and they were clearly moving people round to maximise profit. We had to move our own luggage to two other rooms, which were not as good as we had had before. Our daughters' room (room 301 - do not accept this room) was terribly damp as a result of a badly installed vent and the smell was appalling. The breakfast was ridiculously expensive (20 euros pp) and drinks too, e.g. a coke is 4.75 euros. Of course we knew it was an expensive hotel as we had been before but the food was not as good as it had been; nor was the service. When we checked out, my daughters' room was not on the bill and I thought they had taken note of our complaint but they later put that charge on my bill and put it on our credit card. I was so disappointed as we were repeat customers. For this money you expect more - I just had the impression that they were trying to fill every last bed by moving people round and putting them in rooms that needed maintenance. I won't return and I am sorry that I have wasted my money.

“Gorgeous Beach Front Hotel”

Hotel Nixe Palace

4 of 5 stars

The view from our room at Nixe Palace offered a stunning view of the beach and a refreshing ocean breeze.

LOCATION: We sacrificed a more convenient location in Palma, so that we could be on the beach. This choice meant we had to take cabs into town each night for dinner. This was cumbersome after awhile since we were a party of six and needed two cabs and had to coordinate drop off spots. There are some places to eat near the hotel, but not comparable to the choices in Palma. The bus stop is a very short walk from the hotel and is good for day time trips to town. We did eat breakfast at some of the restaurants on our street, since we didn't want to pay for the pricey breakfast at the hotel.

STAFF: Friendly, and made some good dinner recommendations and were helpful with directing us to proper bus stops for shopping, etc. I would have appreciated more tour info at the desk.

ROOMS: The bed linens were crisp and smelled wonderful. For a European beach front hotel, the room was very spacious. Beautiful marble bathroom with plush robes and slippers. The balcony was comfortable to sit and enjoy the beach, read a book and have a drink. Very tastefully decorated in soothing neutral taupe and brown textures. Make up mirror is a plus, as well as a full length mirror and ample closet space. Room darkening drapes allowed us to sleep in. We never heard noise from outside or in the halls.

AMENITIES: There is a spa, a small heavily mirrored gym and an adequate pool. Food and drinks were pricey, so we had our own drinks in the room. Live piano music nightly in the beautiful marble lobby. Free internet, although there is only one computer available. The beach is a short hike a few flights down the hotel stairs. It is public, but chaises and umbrellas are available for rent. The ocean was very swimmable most days. Can get a little rough. There will be the smell of pot smoke on the beach, but nothing annoying.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but just remember if you are staying on the beach, you are making that choice and will have to take cabs or buses into downtown Palma. Happy Travels!

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Nixe Palace for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. We had a sea view room with a terrace and the hotel staff was very good to us. You can't beat the view. There isn't much in the area around the hotel but you can easily take the bus into Palma for more bars and restaurants.

I was very nervous after reading some of the negative reviews but I would disregard them because those people clearly have standards that will never be met.

“Excellent !”

Hotel Nixe Palace

We stayed 1 week in the Nixe Palace. The hotel has been completely renovated and the results are very beautiful ! Situation is ideal (5 min.by cab from Palma town) and just in front of the beach and sea. Choose a sea view room if possible, it's more than worth it ! The breakfast buffet is delicious and the terrace where you can take the breakfast is fantastic with very beautiful views. I highly recommend the Nixe Palace if you like the beach, the sea, clean and modern rooms and everything you expect of a 5-star hotel. The SPA is very professional, fitness room as well as the swimming pool is small. But that is the only minus. Staff and management are very friendly and helpful !

“Really lovely hotel”

Hotel Nixe Palace

My wife and I have just had an absolutely gorgeous 5 nights at the Nixe Palace Hotel. We had paid for a sea view room, which I strongly recommend you do as waking up to the sound of the waves and the sight of the beach ‘waking up’ was truly special. Also, I suggest you opt for inclusive breakfast as it’s amazing…. A huge choice and champagne on the terrace every morning!!!! Having read some reviews we were a little concerned that the immediate area was going to be a bit ‘dodgy’ with nothing going on, but we were pleasantly surprised. OK, it’s certainly not what you would can upmarket but there was a reasonable choice of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance and everyone was friendly. However, should you will a more sophisticated outing and I’m sure you will both Palma and Portals Nous are a short cab ride away. We chose to use the bus when travelling into Palma as the stop was right outside the hotel and the service was excellent (only € 1.10 too). All in all highly recommended…..We will return!
