My wife and I have just returned from 3 nights at the Blue Bay Hotel in Cala Mayor.
The hotel has some very good points but unfortunately quite a few bad points as well.
The hotel is set at the top of a hill and the views from are sea view balcony was absolutely beautiful. Are hotel room was a bit on the small size, but the air conditioning was good which meant that we had some very comfortable nights when the temperature outside was not so warm.
The swimming pool was very nice and set in beautiful gardens.
On the negative side, the hotel is situated up a steep incline which means that you have to walk up a steep road or about 180 steps to get to it,
When we checked in to the room initially we thought the room was clean but when we took a closer look we found thick dust under the beds which suggests that the rooms aren't cleaned thoroughly. There was no hotel information in the room which we thought was strange and only one plug socket. and no facilities to make a drink in your room and nowhere to get a drink out side of the bar or restaurant opening hours,
We stayed on a half board basis The bar stays open until 11pm The afternoon and evening entertainment there wasn’t any , However if you walk down the road way you will come to Scots bar we had a great time in this small Spanish run bar
The food in the restaurant was OK but bit bland but and some of the food wasn't labelled so you often weren't sure what you were eating as most of the guests were German About 90% don’t leave your toast unattended in the toaster as you may find the it goes missing.
Cala mayor it's self isn't a holiday resort and there isn't much there at all but Palmanova and Magaluf are only 20 minutes away by bus 106 or 104.
All in all we had a nice break but we wouldn't stay at the Blue Bay again or Cala Mayor, But saying that we visited Magaluf at 10.30 am got of the bus and was met by 3 drunk lads for Manchester shouting and being sick so maybe Cala Mayor isn’t that bad
