“BEST FAMILY HOLIDAY EVER......”

Possibly the best hotel we have stayed in. The Macarella was modern, comfortable and clean.

Situated 250 yds from Cala n' Bosch harbour and 300 yds from the beautiful Cala 'n Bosch beach, everything you could need was at hand.

Clean bed linen and towels were provided everyday apart from Wednesday during our stay and the rooms are large and comfortable. I have never slept in such a comfortable hotel bed. The rooms also have air con as well as double balconies.
Our room was provided with a kettle and toaster and a good selection of crockery and pans. (Which we never used!)

The hotel seemed to have more Dutch and German guests than English, but, this seems to be a good sign as the standards were very high, without being stuffy or formal.

The only negatives I would voice are about reception sometimes being left unattended and we had to wait 15 minutes on arrival for a member of staff to appear... however, I think this is more an English impatience thing and a Spanish "manyana" attitude...

We hired a car while we were in Menorca and were able to visit most of the island is a day ....including the Laddro exhibition and several of the local tourist attractions.

For some, Menorca may be too quiet - there are no night clubs in Cala n;Bosch but we went for a relaxing break and certainly got it... we are already booking to return again in October 2008.

“Good family hotel -- toddlers' entertainment is a bit too late”

We had a lovely family holiday with our 2-year old at the end of September. Location is good, between the marina and the beaches and the children's entertainment was very good, although a bit late (8pm and 9pm -- our little one is normally in bed by 7pm at home) -- so much so that only the German and Dutch toddlers seemed to be able to keep up (no doubt being groomed for later years of euro techno house parties!).

The pool was very nice, although a bit cold. Beware, if the whether's not nice (and there's not much else to do in Cala'n Bosch if it isn't) you won't be able to use the indoor pool at the Grupotel Turquesa Mar for "insurance reasons", so you might want to stay there instead out of season.

Negatives I'd point out were that our room wasn't given that much attention by the cleaning staff (they don't get cleaned on Sundays and Thursdays so make sure you're out until 3pm the previous day otherwise you may not get your room cleaned). We also had a considerable amount of dust under our beds and the fact that the rooms only had twin beds, which could not be made up as a double made sleeping a bit uncomfortable.

If you have little ones, I'd recommend going to the 3-star Sol Falcó, although not necessarily staying there (it only has standard hotel rooms rather than apartments), as this is a Flintstone's themed hotel with all the characters around the pool and evening entertainment and photo opportunities with Fred, Dino, pebbles & co.

“A great place to stay”

We have just returned from a fabulous 10 day break to the Macarella in Cala n Bosch. We had a terrific apartment overlooking the pool, it had a living area with a balcony and a separate bedroom with a balcony, how good is that! The kitchenette was very well stocked. I read some reviews that the kitchen didn't include a kettle or a toaster, but we had both.

The pool was lovely and quiet, except for lots of babies, we had a choice of beds, even late morning or late afternoon. There is nothing I hate more then people putting towels on beds at 6 o'clock in the morning, its pathetic, and the pool crowded with people. But it was so nice to have the space to have peace on a well deserved break.

We didn't eat in the retaurant, the restaurant looked really nice, but as the marina was only a few steps away, we went there, there was so much choice of bars and restaurants. We didn't attend any of the entertainment either, but it sounded good from our balconies.

We had fabulous meals down in the marina, our favourite was el pato, we went there three times.

I would definately stay at this hotel again.

We have just returned from 2 weeks at the Macarella. We booked out flights, accomodation and transfers all seperately and got a fantastic price. Everything was perfect from checking in to checking out. We e-mailed the hotel before arrival with a couple of room requests and were pleased to get everything we asked for. Maid service was superb, daily (except Sunday and Wed). Although the hotel was full we never had a problem getting 4 sunloungers and a parasol round the pool, the pool was great for all ages, nice shallow walk in to approx 2 meters at the deepest and also a seperate kiddies pool. Our daughter (age 7) went to the kids club every day (except Sunday which is day off) from 11am-12.30 then 3pm-4.30, this is the first time she has gone off but it was great because is was held next to the snack bar and she could see us round the pool. Kiddies mini disco was nightly 8.45 til 10pm then the entertainment followed straight after, couple professional shows a week and other nights quizzes, Mr. Macarella, who wants to be a millionaire etc. We ate in the snack bar for a couple of lunches which were very reasonably priced and stuff for kids, we didnt eat in the restaurant for breakfast or evening meal but a few we spoke to said it was very nice. The hotel is less than 5 mins walk to a small but lovely beach and the same to the marina which is beautiful, we ate in many lovely places, bahia, la fontana, tropicana and many more, we only experienced 1 bad meal in el pato. We looked around lots of other hotels on 1 of our 2 cloudy days and found that we'd made the right choice, this was by far the best hotel in cala n bosch. Roll on next year :-)

I booked this hotel through Travel Republic adding on flights and transfers.I emailed ahead asking for a high floor with view of pool and was very pleased to get exactly what I had asked for.We stayed in a one bedroomed apartment which was adequate for our stay.We were half-board and allocated a table for our whole stay. The food was very nice with plenty of choice for breakfast including delicious omellettes cooked to order.Dinner also had plenty of choice including something for the children each night e.g fish nuggets (but homemade).
The swimming pool had plenty of sunbeds and parasols although people did reserve to get a favourite place. We went to the beach a couple of times which was beautiful -clear warm waters in sandy coves just 5-10 mins walk from the hotel.
The entertainment in the hotel was as usual, my children still go to the mini disco and persuaded us to stay for the entertainment after. We watched an African show which was good, Disney show which was ok and a terrible show with a guy singing lots of different songs. The harbour is a moments walk away and is bustling with lots of restaurants, shops, stalls and bars and is very pleasant for a stroll in the evening.
We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would recomend it to families with primary school age.The hotel although full was quiet.
