Have just returned from a 10 night stay at the macarella with my husband and 15 year old daughter. The accommodation was very good and is definately 4*. It is an ideal location and very clean. We visited the resort 8 years ago and so I knew what to expect but was pleasantly surprised to find that it had been developed a bit more but still remained family friendly. The one negative for me was the entertainment team at the hotel which I thought was very poor during the day. During our stay a lot of the entertainment was throwing young children in the pool or playing games with the younger children and not very much for the older ones even though there were lots of teenagers with their families. In my opinion the girl in charge was too young. Despite this we had a lovely holiday and I would reccommend the complex.

We recently spent aweek at the Macarella. The hotel was very clean, the staff very professional and pleasant. The hotel rooms are very spacious and of a high standard. The marina is very close by with an assortment of resturants and the beaches were in walking distance of the hotel and very clean. It was a very enjoyable family holiday and we always felt safe. If you have a young family or want a quite restfull break its the perfect location. We will definately return.

Had a great two weeks at this hotel, I'd read good reviews, all accurate. Lots of families there, we'd gone with 2 toddlers ourselves and were made very welcome everywhere, Menorca is well known for being a quieter island and everyone makes a fuss over kids.

We were going to take a double buggy, but then I read that the hotel hired buggies - brilliant idea! We took one single buggy, then hired a second one when we arrived for 15 euros a week. Well worth it to 'stroll' with both kids in the evenings and not have to carry my 3yr old home.

Good kids entertainment, Reuben and Monica keeping them occupied. My two are a little young, but did do some things, painting in the shade at midday was a good break from the sun. 8.30pm mini disco was also well attended, nothing like a bit of euro disco routines, great fun!

Hotel close to the beach and marina, and plenty of places to eat there. Supermarket is next door to the hotel, stocks most things, but a bigger one is only in the marina.

Apartment was good, clean, modern. We had all that we needed, and facing the pool was good. Seemed that families with young children, like us, were allocated ground floor rooms, which made it easier to not have to use the lifts.

We hired a car and travelled, easy to drive everywhere and I recommend Fornells on the North coast. Lots of lovely beaches in Menorca.

Do recommend. I'd go there again

I stayed at the Grupotel Macarella from the 18th-25th July 08.We are really fussy where we stay on holiday after a bad choice a couple of years ago.So finding these apartments was not easy.We felt we had made a good choice and when we arrived we were not dissapointed.

I travelled with my husband and two children (7 and 3).

We had a great flight from the UK with no delays and a smooth transfer to the resort about 1 hour dropping off in Calan Blanes and Sa Caleta before going on to Cala n Bosch.

The entrance hall is really large and welcoming and the reception staff where very poilte, helpful and proffesional.

We were allocated a room on the ground floor in block 2.At first I was a bit apprehensive to be on the ground floor, but after staying there the first night I realised that everything was very nice and safe.Our room backed onto fields with large looking palm trees which was nice.The terrace was nice with a table and 4 chairs and a dryer for your costumes etc.At first I was a bit upset not to have been given a pool view room, but it worked out well because the children would play on the grassed area after lunch which was nice.

The room was very large and spacious with enough storage for all our clothes.The kitchen area was well equipped and clean.The air conditioning on arrival was rattling and was very noisy.The first night I had to switch it off because it was hard to sleep.The next day we reported it to reception and the maintence man came and fixed it.It started working for a couple of hours then it completly stopped again.We reported it to reception again and it took them 1 and half days to come and fix it.So it was quite hot at night.It was eventually fixed but still made a funny noise.But we just put up with it because it felt nicer with it on.

We only used the hotel restaurant once as we were staying on a self catering basis.This was for breakfast on the first morning.We thought we would give it a try.It was very overpriced and not all that fantastic.The fruit was a bit mouldy.There were some very yummy cakes though.No one even checked our ticket though to see if we had paid at reception which we had.So maybe there could be some free breakfasts going on if you are cheeky enough to try!!

The pool is great for children.There is a small childrens pool and the main pool is designed very well.It gently slopes away and gets slightly deeper so is really safe for the children.The shape of the pool is really good,you can sit either side and your children are still being watched in the shallow end.Some of the grills around the edge of the pool were damaged and did seem to be coming up, which could have been quiet dangerous if anyone triped on them.I did see people complain about it and they were replaced by new ones which was good.There are plenty of beds and parasols some of which are slightly broken with spikes poking out, but they are not to bad.It was busy but it never felt too "busy".Some people did reserve there sun beds in the morning with there towels.But the management kept to there words and came around and removed them all and took them back to reception for the culprits to collect.I think that was a great thing to do.You can hire pool towles if you wanted to.

There is a small park.One slide 2 swings and 2 little rockers.It is by the side of the pool.Which was nice.The children would have a play in between swimming.The slide did have a bottom broken step.So we had to keep an eye on our 3 year old going up it.

The snack bar by the pool has good choice and the food is adequete for what you want at lunch time.It is well staffed and the children get a free toy with there meal, which pleased our children!!

The kids club staff Monica and Rueben are fab with the kids.They have activities going on during the day that you can take part in if you and children want to.

The mini disco was fun for the kids.The songs are a bit sad, but hey that what going on holiday is all about.Cheesy songs.Our kids loved it.The disco started at 8.30 which gave us enough time to have out meal and get back to the disco.After the disco there was usually a show.We saw a flamenco dancing show and an irish dancing show.They were both ok.Your usual spanish entertainment.The kids all sat on cushions at the front and had a good time.The bar staff are all friendly and really helpfull.My husband and I enjoyed a drink from the bar which wasnt really any differently priced from anywhere else in the marina.

Overall all staff in this complex were fantastic.

The location of these apartments is amazing.Just at the end of the road is the beach and the marina.Only a couple of mins max to both.The beach is lovely.Perfect for families.It does get busy but it dosent feel to over crowded.The sea was lovely and blue.Beds/parasols are avaliable to hire.No people selling things which was nice.Very safe and friendly atmosphere.You can hire pedal boats with slides on which looked fun.

The Marina was lovley.So much choice.Everywhere you go the staff where great with the children and we didnt have a bad meal.The best restruant that we found best was Resturnate Avanti.We ate there on two occasion as we enjoyed it so much.The pizzas are very good.

The goody goody park was great for the kids.They have bouncy casltle,trampolines,crazy golf,arcades,motorbikes,water slides and a pool.The children can purchase a wrist band for a set price which entitles them to go on everything.You can have a drink there and watch the kids playing whilst listening to a singer!! was very fun.

There is a supermarket next to the apartments which is more pricey than the spa supermarket in the marina behind the steak house.We used this one and the larger one further down from this.It has better choice and saves you some money.

We didnt go to the waterpark,but it was only about a 15 min walk away which was very straight forward.We went to the goody goody park and the kids went down the water slides there which they loved.

We took a boat trip from the marina.Glass bottom boat, along the west and south coast of Menorca.It has a bar on board selling ice creams and drinks.It stopped at a little dream beach for an hour which was so nice.Was nice to see various other beaches and some caves on the way.It left the marina at 10 oclock and 2 oclock.There is a lower deck for shade or an upper deck for the sun lovers.

We hired some pedal bikes which you will see everywhere.Very knackering.But fun.Give it a go if you are fit!!

Overall the best family holiday we have had.The kids made loads of friends.Loved the pool and the beach.My husband and I loved the apartments.We felt we choose a great luxury holiday which was also great for the kids.Would def return to these apartments nand the resort of calan bosh.Which is very clean and family friendly.
