“Great hotel not great for English!”

The hotel was good but what let it down was the poor food choice, lack of entertainment in any other language than German! Must say it was really clean and the staff were great, however we were the only English couple staying at the hotel!!

Beach was a steep sand dune, beware of the naked people walking around!!

If you fancy a nice relaxing break with very little to do this would be ideal.

Me and my fiance went to this hotel 9th December 2006, when we arrived the weather for the first two days were rainy but that was to be expected as we did go in December, the rest of the week thought the weather was absolutley glorious & very very hot! The hotel room was very spacious and was cleaned regulary with towl decorations which i loved! To say we are both fussy eaters thae food was manageable, the breakfast was by far the best! The only down side i would say about the hotel is that when we were there, there was only 6 Britsh people and the rest was German! the beach was fantastic but watch out for the old ones as they like to go naked!

We were under the impression we were going to a 4 star hotel and on arrival the lobby looked very spacious and welcoming, at checkin we were advised our rooms were not ready but if we went to the restaurant we could get some lunch then return. Lunch was ok not great. We recieved our room keys and headed off to find our room. We had to walk down open corridoors which were like wind tunnels howling down them. As we were walking down the corridoor we relised all the rooms we were going past were all sea views which we thought great....untill the sign with our room number pointed towards what I could only describe as an underground carpark with our room in dark corner. When we went in it was a bit dark but hey the curtains were closed, pulling them back revealed a great view..........of a concrete wall. On returning to reception and after a very lengthy conversation with the 2 german receptionists convinced them there was another room available for us, which we moved into the following morning. After this hicup I can only say that all the staff in the hotel were very friendly and helpful especially reception.
The hotel although new after leaving the reception area seemed very bland with lots of wasted inside space doing nothing but looking dull. The bar area at night was very poorly designed with the longest part of the bar being in what could be only described as an oversized corridoor. The bar area at night was very hot but was to windy to sit outside for any length of time so little choice there. As mentioned in other reviews the majority of people here were german, but this wasnt a problem and met quite a few nice people, who I must add some shared our views about the rating of the hotel. No complaints about the pool area always plenty of sun loungers and plenty of room to swim in the 2 main pools. Very nice beach at the bottom of the 100 & odd steps, but the wind all the time we were there was strong so this did spoil it a bit, but thats something I should have looked at before we booked.
The location of the hotel is in the middle of nowhere, there is a bus stop outside the hotel which will take you into Jandia but the 2 occasions we went to catch it, sailed past without stopping because it was full, so best to get a taxi which is pretty good at 7 euros. I must say the beach at Jandia is very good and very little wind. Sadly I must say that this has to rate as one of the worst holidays my wife & I have had and we have had quite a few over the years, it was our first visit to Fuerterventura & i'm afraid our last. Certainly nowhere near to a 4 star hotel just an average 3 star.

“Very good on the whole!”

I have just returned from this hotel and spent 14 days at the Paraiso Playa. On the whole this was a relaxing and enjoyable experience, that with a few tweeks could have been fantastic.

The hotel is situated on a great beach which is accessable via a flight of stairs (all 102 of them), so its best to take everything you need with you down to the beach, as you don't want to be running up and down them all day, unless your a masochist.

The Hotel was clean and the rooms functional, and all well presented. The reception staff were very helpful, if a little under resourced at times. The hotel had a good entertainment package in the evenings, but the theatre area did get very hot in the evening, and often the show was hard to hear from the back of the auditorium.

For kids there were many activities to keep them occupied each day, but much of this was targetted at the German children, which made up the vast bulk of guests under 14 years of age.

The meals were on a buffet basis, and there was always a reasonable quality of food on offer, and the waitig staff were very helpful.

The Hotel is actually situated a good few kilometres from the resorts of Jandia to the West and a considerable distance further to Costa Calma. The bus is not an option, as it is always full before it reaches the stop outside the hotel. The Taxis are clean and efficient, and very reasonably priced, so I recommend opting for this mode of transport as opposed to any other. Roughly 6 euros to Jandia during the day and 8 Euros in the evening.

On the whole I would certainly go back to the hotel or at least one in the sunrise chain.

“What a waste of money!”

We felt like we had wasted our money. First of all the hotel is unsheltered from the wind, so when the wind picks up (believe me it really picks up) you are blown across on your sun lounger, god forbid if you have a window open in your room. They have air con vents in the rooms & when the wind picks up it makes them lift & in our case fall down. Also the door slammed on my girlfriends hand which jammed the lock which stopped us from gaining access to our room which also resulted in us spending 130.00e at a medical centre to sort it out. In the morning all the hotel manager was bothered about was weather we were blaming them for the incident not evan an apology. The food was uninspiring, we found the restaurant staff rude, on most days whatever food was served for lunch we found the same for dinner. The breakfasts were not cooked properly & we found the whole dinner experiance to be rushed. They also have a fly problem in the restaurant which made it difficult eat the food as you were continually brushing flys away. When we questioned the staff they didnt seem to know what we were talking about. The bar staff spoke very little english which made it difficult to order drinks. The main problem with the hotel, which is the same with the whole south of the island is it is very German orientated. This caused problems with the hotel as it holds 900 rooms of which 40 are allocated to english tour operators. Because of this ratio the staff speak perfect German but very little english also the entertainment was mostly in German. considering we spent nearly £2000 on the holiday we expected alot more & higher standards.

    • Tips/Secrets: — Dont go to the south of the island if you want a english orientated hotel
