Just got back from a week long stay at the AC, was impressed overall. However a word of caution to those booking via the AC website: even if they send you a confirmation email and booking reference, double check you are definitely booked!! we arrived at 3am after a night flight and despite confirmation email and booking reference, were told by reception that there was no record of our booking! fortunately they had a room free to re-book us but we were a bit concerned - arriving at 3am in a foreign country only to be told their website had messed things up was a bit disconcerting. anyway it all worked out in the end...
pros: the rooms are stylish, the free minibar a godsend and the pool/gym area are nice retreats when Las Canteras gets a bit too hot/full. The pool is not heated however so you really do need to grit yr teeth and get in there, even in 27 degree heat.
The breakfast was reasonable but a pricey 16 euros for a buffet breakfast (the scrambled eggs & bacon were hidden away in a sealed container on the sideboard & on the 1st day the bread was mouldy!)). it really is serve yourself - even have to toast your own bread. can't comment on the main meals as we ate out in the evenings - could get a decent meal for 2 for twenty euros as opposed to 19.50 per head at Le Volante (the hotel restaurant). Al Macaroni Italian restaurant on the beachfront was fab - speedy service, great staff, delicious food and a pleasant atmosphere.
We had a good view from the 13th floor overlooking a petrol station, buses going onto Santa Catalina park, with sea view just peeking out) - although traffic noise was a bit of an issue for me at night and early in the morning, maybe higher up rooms don't suffer quite so much.
Personally it suited that the hotel wasn't right on the beach front, Las canteras is really busy until well into the wee small hours, and the beach really was only five mins walk away. Overall a good experience, would recommend.
