The Pavillon although an annex is actually in a street behind the Hotel Galeon and completely separate. We satayed to the rear which is quiet and some rooms look into the gardens of the Liberty Hotel. We had single beds, the mattress covers don't fit and the green hospital sheets come off with them every night, like sleeping on a greased torpedo. The mattress was comfortable but attempts to rectify the situation like pushing the beds together will be dismantled by the cleaner each morning.
Both hotels share a ghastly taste in heavy 50's inspired wood furnishings - hence the Galeon theme - and the breakfast and breakfast room are just plain and best avoided at all cost. There are plenty of lovely cafes so unless your on a budget forget it, life is too short to be disappointed every morning, we tried it twice in 8 days and there are few imaginative uses for such displays of reprocessed meat.
In the annex noise travelled very easily between bedrooms, most amusing when the bed head next door fell on an active couple....so beware.
The hotel cleaning staff though are excellent and do a great job, it may smell of cheap bleach on arrival & each morning, we thought it damp, but it was latent bleach and the rooms were spotless, you cannot fault the daily fresh towels (not suitable for the beach).
So if you can stomach the cheap bleach don't eat the breakfast ignore the decor, especially the hunting prints to remind you of England Past, and get a bed with sheets that fit you'll be fine.
We never used the pool. The hotel is gay friendly but predominantly hetrosexual and has a smattering of oldies..
