We booked a week at the Aminta for our honeymoon in August 07 and loved it. The best bit was the fantastic service - it seemed that they could not do enough for us. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and ate at the hotel on a few nights. The food was fine - not the best in sorrento but perfectly tasty. It is easy enough to get into the town although the walk is a bit steep on the way back. We recommend walking in to town and then getting the shuttle bus or a taxi back. All the taxi's seem to know the hotel. If you do not like the food at the hotel the hotel staff will recommend and book a restaurant for you. You do have to pay for a sun lounger by the pool and if you are planning on a day by the pool you should reserve your loungers the day before at reception.

The hotel can organise excursions for you and take payment for them. Some excursions have to be paid for in cash. We found getting the train to Pompei very easy and did not pay for an excusion to go there - we saved a bit of money by doing it ourselves. Other excusions were good value as we did not have a car so it worked out cheaper to get the excursion transport rather than have the hassle of working it out for ourselves. We saw a lot of the coast line on a day long cruise which was lovely.

The hotel is out of the town which we thought was a good thing when we saw how busy the roads are in Sorrento town. Some hotels are very close to the road and so could be noisey. we throughly recommend the Aminta.

Our family of 4 stayed here in Feb. 06 for several nights. We arrived by car and after a harrowing trip through Sorrento and surrounds, we found a sign for the hotel (up a hill away from main town) and were pleased with the situation of the hotel. We were shown to our room (suite, 2 rooms, 2 baths) which had an amazing view of the Bay of Naples. Room was clean, quiet and comfy. Breakfast was fine which amazing views from the breakfast room. Hotel provides a convenient shuttle to/from Sorrento plus there is a footpath down to Sorrento near the hotel so we never had to use our car the whole time. We took the train from Sorrento to Pompeii and caught a boat to Capri from Sorrento. I loved Sorrento. The people there were so friendly and happy. It was a beautiful stay and we had no problems with the Aminta at all.

We had a bit of difficulty finding the hotel since we drove but once there we loved our stay. We had an incredibly large room with a massive bathroom. There was a jacuzzi tub and a shower with jets and all the luxury items you would expect from a high end resort. We didn't pay for all the luxuries but because it was off season we're assuming we benefited from the slower tourist season. They were extremely helpful with finding/booking things and opened up early for us for dinner too. They were by far the most helpful and friendly staff of our staff in Italy. We found the shuttle to and from Sorrento easy and they didn't charge us a fridge hire/rental fee even though we used the fridge. Definitely a the best way to end our holiday in Italy.

We arranged through Expedia to stay at Aminta for 4 nights that inlcuded Breakfast and evening meal (halfboard). We were disappointed at the choices of first and main courses on the menu offered to Halfboarders. The food was quite basic and uninteresting. However the A La Carte menu was much more varied and interesting for people who wish to pay on the night.
In in retrospect we should have booked for breakfast only.
We did get a refund after complaining on the 3rd night and on the 4th night were offered a free meal off the A La Carte Menu so it was worth complaining at the time. The rest of the hotel was fine although it was situated up a steep hill but there was a hotel bus service provided several times a day.
