“Feels like a Palace”

Residenza Cellini

As you walk down the hallway of this hotel, you feel like you are in a mini palace. All the rooms have double-doors and the hallway floor is marble. We stayed in Rm #5 - double-bed with a nice size bathroom. The room was very clean and the staff was friendly. Breakfast was the standard continental spread.
The hotel is located on the 3rd floor of a building that houses other hotels as well. On the 3rd floor alone there are 2 other hotels. There is an elevator/lift from the entrance floor. The area is very quiet and safe at night for walking. The hotel is 2 blocks away from the Metro, bus stop and taxi stand. There is also an ATM (bancomat) a block away. The nearby restaurants that Rick Steves recommends are all good.
My one complaint is that I felt the hotel was far from all the sights. You could walk to certain sights but it would take at least a realistic 20 minutes, and that would be the closest sight. You are better off taking the Metro which was very easy and cheap. Look into the RomaPass. If you don't mind taking public transportation instead of walking, then this place is for you. As much as I like the hotel I prefer something closer to the action. Other than that, this place is great.

“A Boutique Hotel Without the Stuffiness...the Best of All Worlds!”

I booked a different hotel months ago and was on a waiting list for Residenza Cellini. I am an avid Trip Advisor reader and was becoming concerned about the other hotel I had booked due to recent reviews that were questionable. Literally days before we were to travel we got an email from Residenza Cellini that they had a room available so we quickly changed directions and booked with Residenza Cellini. We were thrilled! It was a wonderful hotel...as many have already said...an oasis, a haven away from the hustle and bustle of Rome. It was an incredibly peaceful place...everything about the Cellini was quiet and elegant.

The rooms were very spacious and spotlessly clean. The service was great...everyone was courteous and helpful with whatever we needed from restaurant suggestions to arranging tours. One day as we were leaving to see sights, George remarked that it could rain and gave us umbrellas to take for the day...they really care about their guests and treat you as family.

The breakfast was very good and free internet service is available in the afternoons and evenings. It is a boutique hotel without the pretentiousness and stuffiness...the best of all worlds! Plus, the location cannot be beat...you can walk to almost everything or catch a bus close by. If we are lucky enough to return to Rome, we would not hesitate to choose Residenza Cellini again!

“A Hidden gem”

I booked the Cellini online after reading the reviews on TA. The communication from the outset was excellent and I booked the airport limo service which I did not regret. The air conditioned Mercedes dropped us at the entrance to the Cellini which is on a narrow street, Via Modena, which runs parallel to the larger and much busier Via Nazionale. The Hotel is a five minute walk away from the Plaza de Republica and the train, bus stations at the Termini. The open top tour buses commence here and the ‘110 Open’ leaves the square every ten minutes. A great ‘hop on / off’ way to see the city. Like every other city, the areas around the bus & railway stations attract the undesirables.

The reception to the hotel is on the 3rd floor of the building and access to it is via the ‘old style’ cage lift or the stairs. The lift is rather restrictive and two people with suitcases are about the maximum. The check in was hassle free and the staff most helpful. Our room was on the 5th floor, so it was back to the lift. Our bags were taken care of and we were shown to the room and given the ‘guided tour’. The breakfast room was very small and found behind reception and the terrace was directly opposite our 5th floor room. The marble flooring added to the ambience. The room was not the biggest but spacious enough for our 5 night stay. It was immaculately clean, modern and had air con, mini bar fridge & room safe. The bathroom was modern with a ‘massaging’ shower that was a tight fit to squeeze into. There was a range of toiletries and also a hair dryer. The soft towels were replaced every day. The view from the room was of an interior courtyard below and was very quiet at night. On saying that, the noise from the air con was far too loud. The roof terrace was easily accessible but building work was taking place as the plans are to re locate the reception to the 5th floor and serve breakfast on the terrace.

Breakfast was served in the small room at reception and there was ample choice of cereals, fruit, breads, hams, cheeses, yoghurts, fruit juices, tea & coffee.

The hotel staff were extremely helpful with booking restaurants, directions and the loan of maps & guide books. Nothing is too much for them. The Target restaurant on the corner of Via Modena is worthy of a visit. It was explained that 'August' is the month that tourists visit Rome and most of the restaurants close as a result. The Cellini is about a 20 minute walk from Vittoria Emanuel and the roads to the Forum & Coliseum. The route is directly down Via Nazionale.

Would I stay at the Cellini if I visited Rome again.. yes I would. Would I recommend it to friends & family… most definitely

“Fabulous Hotel in Rome”

I fear never being able to reserve a room at Residenza Cellini again due to its small size and immense popularity with Trip Advisor users, but I feel it is fair that I give RC its due. This is a wonderful little gem of a hotel as many others have stated. Barbara, Gaetano and the rest of the staff are quite simply amazing. They speak perfectly fluent English, they are glad to help with restaurant recommendations/reservations, wayfinding in the city, public transportation info., etc.
My husband and I stayed here for four nights of our honeymoon and were absolutely thrilled with this place. Our room was spacious with high ceilings and a wonderfully clean bathroom. The bed was comfortable and the sheets were nice. Breakfast was a nice mix of fruit, yogurt, pastries, juice, coffee, etc., and was a great start to the day.
Also, Barbara provided a bottle of chilled champagne for us upon our arrival as a welcome gift since we were on our honeymoon.
As others have mentioned the sign for the hotel is very small so if you arrive via train and walk there (as opposed to taking a taxi), look carefully for it or you will walk right by it.
Lastly, the bus stop is closeby for public transport, which we used to get the Vatican, the Forum and other not so close locations. I highly recommend this hotel!!

We stayed here last week for 2 nights because of the reviews on Trip Adviser. The reviews are not wrong. The Residenza Celling is a gem in Rome. The front desk people, Barbara, Donado, etc., are wonderful and helpful. Room was large by Europe standards , clean, and comfortable. Breakfast was great. We had to leave at 5:30AM to catch a flight. At 5:15A, there was a little knock on our door and we were handed a tray with 2 cappuccinos. You just don't get treated like this in many hotels!
