“Excellent”

Hotel Alpi

Mar 29, 2008

This hotel is a gem. Its very close to the main train terminal; the area is safe. . . .and well; inside. . . will be impressed. The rooms are wonderfully decorated; okay, the bathroom was small. . .but very stylish; and the with a jucuzzi inside; what can is say!!?
One tip for non regular travellers; Don't use the phone in your room, it costs a lot!!! Do not hesitate in booking this hotel; especially good for young couples.

“Great Modern Hotel in superb location”

Hotel Alpi

5 of 5 stars
Tipperary, Ireland
Mar 18, 2008

Our room was modern and spotless if a little on the small side however we paid a fantastic low rate so this was not a problem. Its location was just what we wanted as it was just a short walk away from the train station. You can pick up a bus from across the road to Trastavere where all the Romans go to eat at night. The gentIemen on the front desk could not be more helpful. I would certainly come back to this hotel the next time I stay in Rome.

“Great Experience”

Hotel Alpi

5 of 5 stars
Missoula, Montana
Mar 7, 2008

We really ejoyed our stay at Hotel Alpi and would recommend it for families. I did quite a bit of research online and corresponded with the hotel itself before booking. I was still nervous though! You never know if the pictures are current, etc..We stayed in a family room on two separate occasions on our trip to Italy. Both rooms were very spacious. one of the showers was small by american standards but we found small showers to be quite common in Italy. Our rooms were on the street side and had no problem with noise. Everything was clean and well kept. Breakfast was more than enough to satisfy. The coffee was out of this world! I miss that a lot. The staff was very nice to us and even remembered us when we checked in the second time.

The hotel is close to the Termini station but we walked most everywhere. It was very easy to get to the sights on foot. Besides, it was a good excuse to stop and have some Gelato on the way! We took the bus to Vatican city but otherwise we really enjoyed experiencing the city a little more intimately.

we never felt unsafe in the neighborhood around the hotel. We brought 3 children and that was a big concern. We were out every night after dark and never had any issues. There are some great little restaurants close by.

I would highly recommend this hotel - Great place.

“Great value for money at the Alpi”

Hotel Alpi

4 of 5 stars
Gloucestershire
Jan 21, 2008

Me, my husband and our 15 year son stayed at the Alpi mid January and were very pleased. We had a double superior room for me and hubby and a double room for our son. The regular double was quite small, but very clean and had everything a person should want for a short stay. We had a spa tub in our superior room and loved it! We also had a very large terrace. The hotel is easy to get to from Termini Station, took us about 5 minutes walk through the piazza.

The room service menu is quite complete and reasonably priced. The mini bar had typical items, but not as expensive as one might assume - 3 euros for a budwiser, 8 euros for a bottle of white wine. I cannot recommend the pay per view movies at 10 euros per film - yikes! We activated the inroom internet service at 8 euros, and it did not work - timed out on every site we tried to get on. The hotel manager took the charge off the bill.

The common areas of the hotel are white marble and very clean & pretty, although the lift was tiny. Reception is manned 24 hours, so any issues that may arise are taken care of immediately. We arrived at the hotel at noon and our rooms were ready, which was nice.

Breakfast was very nice with lots of cold buffet style choice. We ate quite a bit at 9am, and didn't want for lunch until 3 pm. The manager was kind enough to see to it we got our breakfast a bit earlier than it is normally served on our last morning so that we could get the bus back to the airport on time - very sweet of him.
There are many restaurants and food shops nearby the hotel, and with a fridge in the room we bought snack and drink items to have later in the evenings.

I personally thought the cost for what we got was very reasonable. We booked direct with the hotel website and paid 70 euros per night for the regular double room and 76 euros per night the superior room. Considering I've heard anything under 100 euros is hard to find, this was a bargain. Maybe the neighborhood is what keeps the prices down at this place - it's not the best but we didn't feel unsafe the entire stay or while walking around outdoors. Once inside the hotel or in any shop or restaurant, you would never guess there is a homeless person or two on the streets nearby.

Rome in general is very expensive. The sites are expensive to get into (14 euros per person for Vatican Museums) and a lot of the restaurants have either a cover charge, mandatory service charge or both that you might not find out about until it is time to pay the bill.
