This hotel is part of a large German chain and its' staff and demeanor are very German. During our stay there were several large German business groups dominating the facilities. There was very little English spoken, although most of the staff made the effort when spoken to in English. The location is not within walking distance of Gstaad or Saanen, and the hotel mini buses do not offer transport except for arrival from the train station. Their one ski bus offers transport to only one ski area of the many good ones in the area, and at very limited fixed schedules. We felt very isolated without a car and would hire one if staying there again. With the negatives out of the way, the hotel was extremely clean and efficiently managed. The food was excellent most nights and pleasantly served. We recommend the half-board menu. All the rooms have balconies or patios with afternoon sun exposure and lovely views. The ski shop in the hotel was very helpful.

This is one of my favorite hotels of all time. I arrived ill from a bad dinner the night before and had to spend the whole day in my room. But that was truly a pleasure as I felt healed from the magnificent views alone!

The room is decorated with light pine furniture and print fabric, very appropriate for the area, and very cozy for nestling in. There is a table with bench-seating right by the terrace, where you can sit and eat while enjoying the view.

The hotel has three restaurants and a bar; there is a small kiosk by the front desk where you can buy magazines and the like, and they also rent bicycles at the front desk. Despite its size (more than 130 rooms), it feels like an intimate hotel where the staff takes care of your every need. There is a hotel van to pick you up from the Saanen train station as the walk uphill is very, very steep.

Went to a wedding in Gstaad with my girlfriend, and left with a fiancee. We were going to wait until Prague or Vienna, the next stops on our trip, but were so mesmerized by the views, that I couldn't think of a more beautiful place. Note: If you don't drink coffee with milk, you will here. With your coffee you get these little milkchocolate cups (like hollow mini-mini peanutbutter cups) that are filled with milk. You just plop one (or two) into your coffee and the chocolate evaporates like 'that'!! You might even wind up ordering coffee just for the chocolate cups of milk!!
