“Clean and comfortable”

Radisson SAS Royal Brussels

Feb 18, 2008

Found a good rate at this hotel through Expedia so chose it for a one-night stay in Brussels. My room was spacious, quiet and clean with tea-making facilities. The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was well-lit. Only complaint was that I could only get very hot water from the hand-held shower (the fixed shower worked well) and the walls were thin so I could hear my neighbours' morning conversation. Did not have breakfast included, but shops and restaurants are within walking distance. Overall impresssion is of an efficient, business class hotel.

“Good location, ok room”

Radisson SAS Royal Brussels

Jan 29, 2008

This is a perfectly good and comfortable hotel in a great location in Brussels. It is walking distance to an underground station, and a stone's throw from Rue Neuve where all the high street shops are. Also very close to the Grand Place. We had a smallish room on the 7th floor, quiet because it faced inwards towards the atrium. It was rather plain, but clean. On the first night we tried to run a bath, but after leaving the water running for many minutes there was still no hot water. The Duty Manager came up and ran both taps full for 15 minutes - and then we got hot water. This scenario repeated itself once or twice again during our stay. One morning my husband met someone wandering around the 7th floor with a toothbrush in his hand, saying he had no hot water in his room! Seems a bit of a shame to waste so much water when you get the usual message about the environment and not putting down clean towels to wash! We also had problems with the temperature - you couldn't open the windows, and it tended to get too warm and a bit stuffy. However, breakfast was great, lots of choice and very good quality. The service was also generally very pleasant and the conceirge gave us excellent directions to the military museum!

“Loved Grand Place”

Radisson SAS Royal Brussels

5 of 5 stars
England

Booked this trip through Euro Star's website for 3 nights accommodation plus train, for New Years Eve. Very satisfied with the Euro Star in Brussels and with Radisson Hotel. Very friendly staff and excellent room with a view from the 6th floor. Celebrations are very low key in Brussels for New Year , most place's were closed for the Christmas break. Breakfast is 25 Euro's each however there are lots of places to choose from near by for coffee and croissants.

“Overpriced and Seriously Expensive”

Radisson SAS Royal Brussels

3 of 5 stars
Brisbane, Australia
Jan 6, 2008

Thought a 5* hotel woud be worth the money .... not at the Radisson SAS Royal in Brussells.

Arrived to check-in at 2:30pm and told that our room would not be available for 2 HOURS!!! What?? I asked if they could phone my mobile to let me know if the room was ready earlier but they were not interested in helping (other hotels we stayed at had no problem with this.)

The hotel was VERY expensive for the quality (we had stayed in many others, much nicer and cheaper during our 4 week Europe / UK holiday).

Staff were no help, room decor was a bit strange - nothing worth writing home about. The only real positive was the location - close to Central station (walking distance) and close to the beautiful plaza area.

If you are going to spend the money, try somewhere else first!

“Definitely not a 5 star!”

Radisson SAS Royal Brussels

Jan 4, 2008
1/1 found this review helpful

Somewhat disappointing, although all the staff were very helpful and friendly, the hotel rooms are well past their best and in need of redecoration. The themed rooms (Oriental in our case)consisted of little more than a bamboo chair and some flea market/chinese restaurant wall hangings. The gym had been closed down the week before we arrived and the room was unsufferably hot, we had to get management to bring a special handle to open the window and they would not leave it with us "for security reasons" so we then had to either have a boiling room in which it was impossible to sleep or a wide open window and traffic noise and binmen keeping us awake instead. The towels were small and thin and not what I would expect in a 5 star hotel, there were no dressing gowns either. It was nice and clean and if it had been a 3 star I would have had no complaints really. Shame.
