I read the reviews just before we were due to go to bayside and was dreading what we were going to find. I mean honestley what do some people expect. The staff couldnt of been more helpful, hardworking and friendley. The apartment was spottless and cleaned every day, clean towels every other day. Pool lovley and clean, food in the restuarant excellent and good value for money. Beach clean and lovley and no hills to climb like some people had said. We really could not find any fault at all. Wonderful bakery on the corner, also doing english breakfasts if you fancied a change. Breakfasts at bayside great value for money, 5 euros including fruit juice and coffee. If you are going to bayside dont be put off, we really enjoyed our holiday and will be returning next year. Weather was great, only one cloudy day out of 7. We also hired a car so we could travel around to see other places, driving easy, no busy roads. Go for it, its fine and its very reasonable.

We have just returned from a holiday at the Bayside Salgados. The only problems we found were that it was too far from Albufiera Old Town and anywhere else, and the restaurant was not good at all. We only dined there on the night of arrival.
The rooms were kept very clean and tidy. It did cost too much for a taxi at night time into town, but we found a good hotel for meals which was about 20 minutes walk from Bayside. Also the bakers on the corner was excellent value for money. You need to budget for the airport transfers and negotiate a good price otherwise it could cost you 60 euros one way. Also budget for the taxis into Albufiera at night time, about 20 euros return, which is very expensive.
Otherwise we had a fantastic holiday.

I BOOKED then 2 days before departure read reviews...some people expect too much i thought and i am easy going itll be fine WAS I WRONG beatifully landscaped/ the appartments stand in the middle of scrubland miles from shops bars ect appartments are tiny ...our walls were covered with swatted mossies thousands of em no one attempted to clean off....no kettle ...sparse cooking items ...2 electric rings no settee or chair had to use garden table and chairs everyone not just me...any entertainment tonight ... no maybe tomorrow the reply ....went for meal 8.50 sorry closed ....gates in fence kept locked so i was parked 10 yds from my appartment but had to drag cases 150 yds to entry and back down inside of fence 150 yds to appartment older folk were shattered coudnt hire room on last day ..out 10am didnt fly till 11 pm honestl if your on the run from police go there theyll never find you but for a holiday avoid like the plague OH SORRY the beach if you find it .... is very clean ......if only because you need royal marine endurance training to reach it let alone sit on it i really dont want to end without saying something nice so weather was great

First of all we stayed in one of the privately owned appartments that make use of the Salgados Bayside resort facilities and adjoin the reception. the property was rented to us from Portugal Haven a travel company in Portugal owned by Simon Moulson.

The Resort swimming pool gave my children a nasty painful rash (other children suffered the same whilst we were there). Complaints were made to the reception staff but no action was taken and staff denied that they could understand English or that other people had complained. The rooftop jacuzzi was also out of order throughout our stay.

During our stay someone entered our room (using a key that either came from the property owners or via the resort reception) and stole the safe from the wardrobe containing our passports and plane tickets! Reception staff very unfhelpful, refusing to get involved or speak to the police to translate for us when we called them until the police insisted). The appartments are obviously not secure.

There are lots of packs of stray dogs outside the front of the appartment which can be intimiidating and there is a building site closeby.

A hire car is essential but there are lots of lovely beaches and restaurants within driving distance.

All in all go to the Algarve but don't stay here. Also do not book anything through Portugal Haven, there was a lot wrong with our appartment, none of which was put right despite assurances that action would be taken..
