We were greeted by a friendly receptionist who was multi-lingual and extremely helpful. Our room wasn't ready so we had a drink in the bar, again multi-lingual bar tender, who was only too willing to correct my Portugese and be really helpful. We had a room at the front of the hotel but as a building was being renovated across the road and anticipating noise we asked for another room. The second room was smaller but overlooked an internal 'courtyard' ie a few plants. The room was fine, alittle small but we did accept it as the quieter room which it was. The bathroom decorated in ceramic marble tiles and chrome was big enough for one at a time but there were toiletries and a good shower. Yes, I agree with other reviews that the hotel corridors are dark and lights are triggered by movement sensors-green and unusual but it never bothered us. What was useful is that the emergency fire plan glowed in dark! I had a reservation about the breakfast due to other reviews but apart from agreeing with the orange juice comment, the breakfast was most suitable: cereals, boiled eggs/scrambled, bacon, sausage (the frankfurter type), sugared buns(lovely), ham, cheese, yoghurts, bread, rolls and croissants. The bar was busy in the evenings as a party of Hungarian and German guests were staying. Hotel location out of the city but the Metro is v close (Parque) and cheap-day pass 3.85E. Had to take a taxi from airport due to one day bus/train strike again much cheaper than UK 16E including 4 for a case (each piece of luggage is chargeable). Visited Cascais on local train, bargain 1.30E each way, 40mins along coast and do have lunch/wine at the Music Bar (take 1st left past McDonalds) wonderful view and buskers!!! Also go down main pedestrianised street on on right is a shop that sells gorgeous Indian slippers. Lisbon eating out-lots of restaurants at 'Restauroes' Metro stop.
