This is one of the most comfortable hotels in Athens, I've stayed many times in it. It is located beside the Athens Airport. It is relatively far away from the city, but the communications are good by train or car.

The rooms are excellent, with the famous Sofitel beds. Although the hotel is very close to the runways, the building is very well isolated, it is a very silent hotel. The bathroom has an independent shower room.

The hotel has two restaurants. The one located in the ground floor (Mesoghaia) is quite good, and offers typical Greek and Mediterranean food. The restaurant on the top floor (Karavi) is very expensive, and the food is outstanding. The service is excellent. The breakfast is very complete, and offers Greek specialties apart from the regular Continental and American buffet.

The only problem I see with this hotel is that it's starting to show its age. It was built by the time of the Athens Olympic games, and it will soon need renewals.

I have stayed at this hotel from time to time as it is the only real choice if you have early or late flights in or out of Athens airport.
As one might expect, it is a pretty soulless large modern hotel. The rooms, however, are reasonably spacious with nice bathrooms and very comfy beds.
My main issue with this hotel is the appalling air conditioning. I have stayed here on about 5 occasions over a period of 2 or 3 years and have never managed to get the air con to lower the room temperature below 23 degrees C. This may suit some people but for us it is simply too hot to sleep comfortably. I did call down to reception to see if anything could be done - they promised to send an engineer who never arrived. Upon checking out I was told that there was an "ongoing problem" which the hotel were attempting to remedy.
The only point in staying at this hotel is its location and the fact that it allows you to carry on to your destination well rested - everything else about the place is pretty unremarkable. However, the "ongoing problem" with the air conditioning means that a good night's sleep is tricky (at least for me).
From now on I will attempt to catch flights that mean I don't need an overnight stay and can avoid the Sofitel altogether.

Great airport hotel conveniently located across street from airport. No transportation needed to get to airport. The walk to arrivals and departures was only a few minutes. The room, the bathroom, and the shower were perfect. The window had a slding wood door to block light and there was not issue with airplane noise. The restaurant on first floor had very good food, but it was pricey. The wireless internet was too expensive, but the concierge gave out a free 15 minute session on hotel computer upon request. I am very happy that I decided to stay at airport hotel to reduce the stress of departing in morning. This was one of the nicest airport hotels I have stayed at and I would definitely return. The hotel is too far from Athens to use as a base for your trip, but it is a geat asset for airport.

Great location metres away from the airport and really the only place to stay if you have an early morning flight.We had a 8.00am flight and left the hotel at 6.00am and was at the counter by 6.10am.Yes it is alittle pricey but avoids getting up at 5.00am and paying a heavy taxi fare to get you from downtown Athens to the airport.Food was quite decent at the airport and they have free internet in the airport.Room at the Sofitel was very nice and had a great bath/shower.Overall if you have visited Athens and are on your way home stay here.You can always take the metro downtown if you want a last look at Athens.
