I have stayed at this hotel for business 3 times. It is in a good location within the city center within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. It is also close to the train station.

The hotel breakfast has a large spread which I think is just "ok". Most of the foods are lukewarm and it is a very european style spread, but not much else.

The hotel has two wings. Once side is the "remodeled" side (facing the street) and the other is the old style rooms. I definitely prefer the old rooms. The remodeled rooms have a weird configuration with a round closet in the middle of the room and the desk area blocked off by a large opaque glass pane with multi-colored stones. It is quite 80's style and I also hate the fact that I can't watch TV while I am working at the desk (large opaque pane blocks the tv view). So, my recommendation is to stay in the north wing and stay away from the remodeled rooms.

The staff is very friendly. There is usually a "on the go" breakfast area with crossaints, cookies and coffee. During my last stay in January I noticed this was out only 1 of the 3 mornings I was there.

I just checked in to the SAS Plaza and am thinking about checking out and staying at another hotel for my 6-day stay in Helsinki. I asked for an uprgrade and had to pay for one (expected my silver status would get me one). If this is a superior room, the regular rooms must be very small. The room is very dull, brown carpet, walls and drapes, dull green bedspread. No color anywhere, not even a flower in the lobby. The toilet is industrial and small and despite the claim for extras in the superior room, the only toiletries are shampoo and one small bottle of soap. I asked the reception for body lotion, conditioner, cotton balls, sewing kit, and the nice girl at the reception found some body lotion but not cotton balls, shoe polish (no pick up outside the door here!), sewing kit, etc. Large people should avoid this place, there is less than a meter from the end of the bed to the desk. Also avoid if you have luggage - the room is small and so is the lobby. No one met the taxi or helped with luggage - I didn't see any porters or dorrman anywhere, so you will have to lug it to your room yourself. The wifi breaks off often. The room and the hotel is very dull and not worth the money or the four-stars. The furnishing are very 40s and seem have been in use since. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. It is not worth the money or stars.

Excellent location next to Helsinki railway station. This was the reason we chose the hotel. Our room was in 7th floor and it was ok. It was quiet and relaxing, although quite small. Taxis we're easy to get from the front of the hotel and the shopping centers were just few minutes walk from the hotel. Breakfast was a standard Radisson buffet.

the plaza is a well-located hotel right nearby the main station and the grand casino. we had a business guest room which even included a sauna in the room. coffee machine, free internet access and free ppv-movies were also included.
the only disappointing thing was the breakfast. i also stayed at the hilton in helsinki and the breakfast there is far better and there's far more choice than at the plaza.
