“Wonderful hotel”

Fairmont Monte Carlo

We had a 3 night stay here at the end of June and would like to agree with all the plus points made by the previous 2 reports. This was a fantastic hotel, great location, staff very helpful and friendly.
We ate in the hotel restaurant Le Pistou on our first evening and, although quite expensive, the food was of a very high standard and the service was exceptional.
We visited the hotel pool a couple of afternoons and had no trouble getting sunloungers. Beautiful views from around the pool area.
We also booked through montecarlo hotels and can't praise them highly enough. Their prices were so much cheaper than anyone else. We couldn't get the helicopter from the airport as our plane arrived too late but we had it on our return to the airport - picked up at the hotel in a minibus and taken to the heliport. This was our first time in a helicopter and a wonderful experience. When you book through this company you ares sent Monaco passport per person - money off coupons for various attractions which were very worthwhile.
Our room in the hotel was excellent with great view over the harbour but next time I would request one nearer to the lifts - we had quite a hike!
We visited the casino in the hotel and this was very enjoyable - wish we had seen Alex Ferguson!
All in all a really great weekend - we would definately return to the Fairmont and would book through the same company.

“Fabulous stay”

Fairmont Monte Carlo

I as well booked through the montecarlohotels.com group and received a great rate for a sea view room with breakfast included and helicopter transfer from Nice to Monaco. However, I think this trip spolied us as we were quite disappointed with the rest of our journey into Cannes and Paris. The hotel is situated in a great location, next to the casino and Hotel de Paris as well as the busy part of town and a shopping centre and beaches. We were able to walk around comfortably to get to most places although opted to ride a bus into the old village and view the palace. There is a significant price difference with eating at the old village and eating in and around the hotel area but could't be bothered with taking a bus. The hotel is quite clean, contemporary and offers an excellent view of the sea. Quite literrally, your room is above the sea. The roof top pool provides an amazing view of the sea and the staff are always available to assist. The fitness centre is one of the better ones compared to other hotels visited during our stay in France. The fitness centre offers a variety of equipment, towel service, locker room, showers and bottle water. If you take your work out seriously you should enjoy what the Fairmont provides although a bit small. If you have your own laptop then there is free internet access to anywhere in the lobby and lounge. The coceirge recommended some of the finer restaurants in the city and made reservations for us. We also ate at Le grille at the hotel de paris which was fabulous with the view and the roof top opening. The food was well prepared with great attention to detail and service. At the Fairmont, we enjoyed the continental breakfast, particularly the freshly made juices after you pick your own fruits. The only kink was the construction going on which made having conversation difficult as we couldn't hear each other in the room. However, after some phone calls, we were easily transferred to another bedroom on the sixth floor which was just as nice.
I don't think you could really go wrong with staying at any place in Monaco as all the hotels appear to be high end and well maintained facilities.

“Wonderful location”

My husband & I stayed here for four nights at the end of June and absolutely loved it. We booked through montecarlohotels.com who I would highly recommend because their prices are extremely competitive compared to other sites we researched - we saw them mentioned by an earlier reviewer and actually switched companies saving us a considerable amount. We had a sea view room and breakfast was included (which is 33 euros per person so definitely worth having included!) and they also include a helicopter transfer from Nice to Monaco as part of the booking which was a terrific experience. The weather for our entire stay was perfect so we got to enjoy the rooftop breakfasts and see Monte Carlo at its best!
The hotel is expensive, but as most people have mentioned, we did expect that and just allowed ourselves to indulge in the atmosphere of Monte Carlo! It's a beautiful place and you just can't get bored walking around - there is so much atmosphere (the yachts and ferrari's are everywhere and it is wonderful soaking it all up).
We had lunch at Cafe de Paris which we actually found to be rather disappointing. Having paid 33 euros for what sounded like a fabulous dish of 'skewered prawns' actually turned out to be a few sorry looking prawns (that hadn't been cleaned out) alongside a blob of rice so we wouldn't recommend it for food. However, most people seem to enjoy just sitting outside having a drink and people watching because it is in a great spot.
One night we ate at Le Grill which is the open roofed restaurant at the top of the Hotel De Paris - it was a lovely experience but we did feel it was a bit over the top in terms of prices for what you got. Definitely a case of paying through the nose because its in the Hotel De Paris!! Gentleman also have to wear a jacket (despite it being 30 degrees!)
We had dinner at the Mandarin restaurant (which is part of the Port Palace Hotel) which has a fantastic spot overlooking the harbour and was wonderful. Again, it was pricey (approximately 200euros including one bottle of wine and two glasses of bubbles) but the food was incredible and you couldn't tire of the view of the fabulously wealthy enjoying themselves on their yachts (if only......)
The casino in the Fairmont is good fun and has a relaxed atmosphere - we bumped into Sir Alex Ferguson on the black jack table which was a big bonus as I am a Manchester United fan!!
If we were to return to Monte Carlo, we would return to the Fairmont because on balance it offers the best option - great location in the heart of everything, overlooking the med which is simply fabulous, friendly staff, rooftop pool, casino, 24 hour bar (although not the most exciting atmosphere and it costs 15 euros for a cocktail & 5 euros for a small bottle of water) and two restaurants. We shall no doubt be doing lots of daydreaming and reminiscing about our fabulous holiday at the Fairmont!

“Good Location and a great hotel - fantastic weekend”

Just back from a long weekend (Friday to Monday) in Monaco staying at the Fairmont, and had a great time. As members of the Fairmont Presidents Club my wife and I received an upgrade to a Jnr Suite, overlooking the gardens, and with the casino as a backdrop. The room had recently been refurbished to a high standard and was large, with a king sized bed. During our stay the staff at reception, front door and lobby bar were all very helpful, and were very welcoming. The hotel itself is in a good position for exploring Monaco. Its close to the main marina, Casino Square and the palace is in easy walking distance. Plenty of places to eat, drink and people watch. The Cafe Du Paris is worth a trip, situated on casino square, its a great place to see all the exotic cars driving past. Also just off casino square there are a couple of guys offering a Ferrari tour of the FI circuit. For 45 euros you can get driven round the circuit, or for 85 you can drive the car for yourself! Stupidly I forgot my driving licence and had to make do with the ride as a passenger...wont forget next time!. For dinner we went to Bar & Beouf Company at the Sporting Club of Monaco. This place is run by Alain Ducasse, the head chef at Louis XV, so its not cheap, and its part of the same complex as Jimmyz nightclub, but the food is great and its a fantastic place to go, book ahead and ask for a table on the terrace!

A great way to spend a weekend.

“Fantastic hotel and great location!”

We had a long weekend here to celebrate my birthday. We've stayed in Nice once before and visited Monaco for the day, but decided to stay in the Fairmont this time round. We are glad we did!

First things first, the prices. Now the hotel itself is quite expensive, but Monaco generally isn't as bad as you are led to believe. We actually found Nice to be more expensive. If you expect higher than average prices for drinks and food then you won't be disappointed. But £15 for a beefburger takes the biscuit! Stay clear of roomservice unless you have deep pockets. The beauty of this hotel is the location though. We popped out to a shop across the road and picked up a few drinks and snacks which kept us going. As long as you are discreet about it the hotel doesn't mind.

But the whole point of the stay was indulgence and this was available in spades. The quality of the rooms is very good. I think we got lucky as we were given a sea view room with a kingsize bed at no extra cost, saving us about £100 for the 4 nights. The garden view rooms were definitely not as well located however, although we only saw these from the outside. These rooms all face inwards, and there is a distinct lack of privacy. Not so with the seaview rooms - these were simply excellent.

The food and drink is generally excellent, but it is expensive as stated above. Breakfast was simply amazing however! We paid a reasonable price for 4 nights B&B so you get what you pay for. There is a huge amount to see and do, and the great central location of the hotel means everything is within walking distance - although we did walk over 10 miles over the course of our stay!

But it's all worth it - this hotel is excellent and apart from a few niggles I can't fault it. I had a great time.
