My husband and I just came back from staying 3 nights at the Schweizer Pension. Our room was very big, bright and clean. There were 3 lounge chairs and a table. The sheets were very crisp. We were facing the street but had no noise (it was cool outside, so we didn't have to open the windows). It's within walking distance of the sights, so we found it a great value. I disagree with the previous comment about the man running the place. He was very friendly to us and the other guests. We had a room with a bathroom (toilet and shower were separate), and besides the timer (as mentioned on other posts) was that the toilet room smelled a little.

I was satisfied with my experience at this pension. It is very well situated, within walking distance of major attractions in Vienna; the price is very reasonable; and the rooms/washrooms are VERY clean. The only drawback is the man running the establishment (one of the owners, I presume?)--he was rude and gruff on more than one occasion. Just stay out of his hair, and you'll be just fine.

Very conveniently situated; you can get to all Vienna’s major tourist attractions on foot within 15 minutes. Good directions from nearest U-bahn station provided.
Excellent neighbourhood supermarket just across road and a good choice of restaurants within 200 metres. We had good very inexpensive food at a nearby Pasta/Pizza place– just down the road towards the Danube.
Warm welcome. Room spotless, though decor showing some wear eg wallpaper rubbing off on a protruding corner. High standard maintained through daily cleaning. Firm and very comfortable beds with individual duvets.
We had a room facing an inner courtyard. Only noise was from church bells and we could hardly hear these with the double windows closed.
Breakfast OK though availability of fresh fruit rather than pre-prepared fruit salad would have been nice. Good coffee.
Agree with previous comments about timer on bathroom. I found myself with pants down when the light went off a couple of times and a couple of times I was kept waken when I forgot to reverse the control after using the bathroom in the middle of the night!

This pension is a great value. It's family-owned and in a nice neighborhood only a few walkable blocks from the city center. Get directions if you're driving (lots of thin one-way streets). Schweizer Pension prides themselves on their cleanliness and it shows! They are also a certified eco-friendly establishment and serve a nice breakfast (cereal, breads, meats, cheese).
