If you find modern art attractive then you will really like the styling used throughout this hotel.

They have all the basics right, a good night sleep, comfortable bed and other furniture. The free minibar is a good perk, even though it is not a "full" minibar. You will probably find a beer, a couple of juices and water - still pretty good.

I have only two things that they could improve:

+ Fix the shower design problems
+ Lower the price of breakfast or make it worth the price

Location is excellent.

I had a good stay.

“Fantastic Hotel”

Le Meridien Wien

5 of 5 stars
San Francisco, CA

My partner and I spent a week at Le Meridien Wien during the Christmas season. It was a great hotel for the following reasons:

1. The location can't be beat if you're focused on spending most of your time in the center of the city (Innere Stadt) or the surrounding neighborhoods. It is minutes from the Symphony, Opera, City Hall, Hapsburg Palace, Museum Quarter, Kartner Strasse and Stephans Dom. And it is only one block from the Karlsplatz subway station, which can give you rapid access to other neighborhoods and the airport.

2. The staff, particularly the Concierge, were tremendously helpful. We contacted them a few days in advance of our arrival, and, even on this short notice, they were able to get us terrific seats for everything we wanted to see: the Symphony and the Vienna Boys' Choir, in particular. This helped make the trip, as these cultural events are critical to understanding Vienna. And, given all of these events were sold out when we contacted them ourselves, it was impressive that the Concierge had the contacts to get us the tickets.

3. The room was great. We were in a standard Double (Deluxe is what they called it). The bed was very comfortable, with down comforters and pillows. The temperature control was easy to use and effective. There was a beautiful flat screen TV with cable, some of which was in English for those of you who don't speak German. There was a "free" Mini Bar (who has ever heard of that?) that was restocked daily. (I think we paid $15 more per day for this, so make sure you have paid the right rate before you partake). And, best of all, the shower was awesome! It had multiple heads and felt great. The decor was very modern, which isn't our typical taste, but we enjoyed it nonetheless. The only issue was that there wasn't a ton of storage space, so you might have to keep some items in your suitcase...but not a huge deal.

4. The breakfast couldn't be beat. It was expensive (26 Euros a head), but worth it. It is an all-you-can-eat buffet style service (drinks included), and has anything you could want...even for a non-European palate. We ate there almost every day, and didn't feel the need to eat lunch most days given the amount of food we ate at breakfast...so it was worth the price. Some of the rates they offer include breakfast; we'd recommend taking the rate with breakfast, as you'll get a discount to the full 26 Euro price...and there is no better place for breakfast in the neighborhood.

5. The gym was also really great. I think it is actually part of a high-end chain of gyms in Austria, so I believe locals can work out there, too. It has all the latest cardio equipment. It had some weights, although not as many as you'd be used to at home (but far more than you typically get at a hotel). And the pool could actually be used for lap swimming.

The only thing we didn't enjoy was the club-like atmosphere in the lobby at night. The breakfast area transforms into a smoke-filled nightclub, which is loud and smelly. But you can't hear it from your room, so it wasn't a huge problem...only an issue if you have to traverse the lobby.

All in all, this is a terrific hotel. We would highly recommend it.

By the way, we got a great rate via Orbitz. Our room should have gone for over 250 Euros per night. We got it for 160 Euros via Orbitz. But, even at 250 Euros, it would be worth it.

“modern comfort”

Le Meridien Wien

There are three main positive points for this hotel :
first it s central , few meters from central attractions like Albertina place or the opera and other shops ( ten minutes in subway for schobrunn castle).
second the hotel is very comfortable and modern ( the most comfortable bed i ve never experimented , plasma large screen etc...)
third part the employees : everyone speaks english as other languages and were very young (20-30 years old ) and so nice with us .
the only bad points i can submit is that they never asked us if we needed something but this is a detail .

Le meridien vienna is a great place to stay in Vienna cause it s central and very comfortable , you won t have bad surprise.

“Perfect Hotel, Perfect Location, Perfect all around!!!”

Le Meridien Wien

5 of 5 stars
Atlanta
Dec 16, 2007

This was an easy decision to book after reading all of the reviews.

I arrived a 10:30 AM and was give a room immediately. As a Starwood Platinum I was upgraded to a Junior Suite which was very nice.

The pictures on here are very accurate. The hotel is beautiful on the outside and the inside has been totally renovated into a modern gem. I absolutely loved the rooms. One of the coolest rooms I've ever stayed in.

As others mentioned the shower is open in the bathroom. Water on the floor can be an issue but can be easily corrected by rolling a towel and placing at the entrance to the shower.

The mini bar is free and stocked daily.

The location can't be beat for a tourist. The train/subway from the airport couldn't be easier with perfect directions available on this site or from the hotel. The hotel is right in the middle of the best shoopping area with stores like Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Versace, etc.

The bar seemed to be very lively and had a nice mix of locals.

I will be back to the hotel and highly recommend it.

“high life and great location at affordable price”

I loved staying there.
My favourite things there are the style/design and the fabulous location. Service is faultless, the bedroom is large and clean and the free mini-bar is a bless. Toiletries are really nice too.
Some negative points as well, but not overshadowing : one , the pool water is too cold. Second, the entrance is difficult if you have a pushchair or a wheelchair. Last, as previous reviews have said, the bathroom separation being only a glass can be a put off if you were planning on a romantic weekend! I personally would prefer a good old fashioned wall.
Overall, It is a great place and I will return as soon as I can
