My husband and I spent 5 days at this hotel. It is a Shearings Hotel and we drove there
In the past we have stayed in a few Shearings Hotels and have had no complaints - that is until we stayed in this one
Our room was smelling of paint which didn't help my husband who has asthma. We had to keep the window open all the time we were there and unfortunately there were gale force winds
We asked for an upgrading but were told the hotel was fully booked
The room was also shabby looking and dusty
When trying to use the shower it would not drain and one had to paddle in a pool of cold water to attempt to have a quick shower
The maintenance man who tried to unblock the drain told us that the shower had been wrongly installed during refurbishment and that if we required to shower we should leave the tap running in the wash-hand basin which should solve the problem - it did not
The staff were mostly Eastern European and the Reception Staff were very unfriendly and unsympathetic to our complaints
The room opposite ours was also being "refurbished" this included banging by the workmen fitting carpets etc and again the smell of paint
