We have just returned from a week at this hotel and we felt it was one of our best holidays.
I picked the hotel because it had good reviews on this site and because it was in Bardolino and I'm very pleased with my choice. I have stayed at more luxurious hotel than this but for me this hotel had almost all I ask in a holiday..... good accommodation, great food, fantastic pools, and a good location for getting around.
Our room was spacious and well equipped although when we arrived I was tempted to ask to be moved as it was right above the bar terrace where most nights there was a singer. However this was not a problem ,in fact it was a bonus as some nights we
sat out on the balcony enjoying the music. If you didn't want to hear it then you could close the balcony door and the tirple glazing practically eradicated the sound. Anyway it was over by 11 o'clock, so not a problem. In fact noise was not a problem at all in this hotel and more should be made of the fact that the rooms were soundproofed as this made it so peaceful.
Food was very good indeed. Five courses at dinner; excellent choice at each course. However the staff could have explained how to order when we first arrived as it was not clear that you choose from three parts of the menu and the salad and sweet were buffet. I know some people there did not chose a main course as they thought the pasta course was a main course.
Breakfast was buffet with plenty of choice.Scrambled eggs were part of the buffet but fried eggs and omlettes were extra.
The pools were wonderful with spas around the side- very powerful and invigorating. The indoor pool was also great and similarly equipped. There was usually enough sunbeds for everyone but they were very close together. I like more space between me and a stranger! However this was a minor point and didn't really effect my enjoyment too much.
The location is a road back from the Lake and about 20 mins walk along the lake into Bardolino. We enjoyed the walk in and to Casino. We walked to Lazise too but this was quite a long walk and I wouldn't have been able to walk back as well so we caught the ferry back. Well worth visiting though. Really pretty.
Bardolino had two free concerts on when we were there.A regular thing in high season I believe. Starts about 9 in the evening on Saturday and Wednesday. Enjoyable.
We went on a tour to Verona which was interesting. Probably if we had gone on our own we wouldn't have learnt so much or seen as much. We went on the wine tasting after it. It was hardly a tour as the vineyard we visited was very small and really all we did was sample the wine. It was however very enjoyable and our party went from being silent to a very sociable group after a few of the drinks. Really enjoyed it.
We also went on the lake tour and stopped at Sirmone, Limoni ,
Marcesne(don't know how to spell that)and Riva. It was good to get a feel for the different locations but I think Bardolino was best for us but maybe we'll stay in one of these loations another time.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Caesius and found Lake Garda to be a wonderful area with so much to see and do. The ferries made it easy to visit other places on the lake although they are not as frquent as I had expected.
We stayed just a week and that really wasn't enough. Every day was totally filled. No chance of being bored
They have a special room for showering and changing if you leave after 11 o'clock on departure day.
Don't usually return to the same place but will make an exception for this hotel
