We had a bit of a shock when approaching the hotel, as it is literally just off a main road in a built up area out of the centre of Cambrai, and we were (from the photographs) expecting it to be in a rural location. That said, it was tucked away, just behind the main road, and looked pretty and more secluded than first impressions of its location suggested.
The staff on reception were welcoming and extemely helpful.
The room(s) we stayed in were basic but roomy, comfortable and very clean. We had 2 rooms for a family of 4 which was cheaper than the 1 family room.
Breakfast was ample with a choice of cereals, cold meats and cheese, fruit, bread, croissants and eggs etc.
The hotel restaurant was closed, so we asked the receptionist to recommend one - she booked us a table at l'escargot in town. It was a busy popular eating place and the food was good, I guess it was one of the better restaurants in Cambrai, but it is the only one we ate at. We had a good rapport with the owner, but when we received the bill, we were overcharged by 20€!
The town looked interesting but we didn't explore it fully as this was just a 1 night stop off en route to Reims.
