This was my second time at the Mont Saint-Michel, and instead of walking into the crowded alleys of the Mont, I decided to look at it from the bay, on a horse. So I looked on the internet for a horse riding place close to the Mont St Michel and found 2. The first one (which was further) wasn't doing the "Traversée de la Baie" ride (bay ride). The other one, called LA TANIERE, said they could organize a ride if we were at least 4 people. We were only 3, so it didn't work, but he told me he would look for other people and call me back. Anyway, in the end it worked out as he had more people joining the ride. We wanted to do the one-day ride, which cost 100 euros, including lunch. And it was worth it ! Not that the lunch was fantastic (picnic style), but the ride on the bay was amazing. There is not many place in France where you get the feeling of being "in the nature", but this is one. Galloping across this limitless bay, under the half sunny half stormy sky with the view on the mysterious Mont Saint Michel was a magical experience. So if you are visiting the Mont st michel, that you love horse riding and that you want to do something different, I recommand this ride. Anyway, let's get to the practical aspects :

What I loved :
- amazing spot
- great horses (very responsive, not "destroyed" by bad riders which is usually the case in touristy places)
- the manager is friendly and very interesting. He speaks good English and makes a real effort to tell you about the region and the Mont st Michel

What wasn't so good :
- we actually did 2 rides during the day (and came back to the ranch for lunch): the morning ride was along a canal and the afternoon one was across the bay (we needed to wait for low tide). The morning one wasn't so interesting. So I suggest you only go for the Bay ride

What you need to know :
- you have to be an experienced rider to do the Bay ride
- it can sometimes be a long day for your bum and legs if you didn't bring the proper gear
- it rains a lot in Normandy, so you better bring a rain jacket if you intend to do this ride.
