We arrived from Dover and easily found the Campanile which is only a couple of Km from the harbour.

Check was quick and efficient; the room was identical to any other Campanile and dinner was typical.

We left early the following morning, and had while nothing was outstanding, everything we needed was in order. There's nothing exceptional, and nothing bad to comment on.

This is a typical 2* simple motel which we managed to book well in advance at a discount.

Have stayed here once/twice a year for the last 10 years and have seen a marked increase in cost and a decrease in service. Buffet dinner was sadly depleted - looked like it hadn't been filled up from lunch time, small amount of salmon especially. Have never used restaurant for breakfast so can't comment on that . Ordered sirloin steak and hate to think what it actually was!! Never seen meat like it. Yes it was that bad. Desserts average - staff quite unfriendly, overall very disappointing - will not be using again.

Took us a while to find the hotel but after a quick phone call to the friendly reception staff we found our way. The rooms are basic and quite small and could do with some love and attention but are fine for a 1 night stopover. It is quite far from the centre so you would need a taxi if you plan on doing anything other than eating in the restaurant. Location though is very good for the ferry port about a 5/10 minute drive away. Breakfast was buffet style and ok I guess for the 7 Euro price tag. Not sure if I would stay again but the price is such good value you'd be hard pushed to find someplace cheaper.

The Campanile is very much a one night stopover place for people catching the car ferry. Being a good way out of Calais centre, you absolutely need to drive to go anywhere else in town. It is typical of such places in France, reasonably priced, clean, professionally run, but no character whatsoever. It is built motel- style, so you need to go out of doors to get to the restaurant and reception.
Dinner buffet was a little disappointing. Where was the protein? Grated carrots, beetroot, etc are delicious, but there seemed to be no substance to the meal. Wish I had opted for something else on the varied menu. The dessert buffet was lovely, though.
Reception was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
