“Convenient if you're going to the airport”

Marriott Munich Airport

3 of 5 stars
San Diego, California
Sep 16, 2008

We got this hotel on Priceline for 70 Euros. The hotel is nowhere near the center of Munich. It's another 20 minutes by car to get there. And with all the construction in Munich, it's more like an hour. The staff was friendly, and the room nice, but if you're looking to explore Munich, I would stay closer. We were passing through on our way from Amsterdam to Venice and spent one night here. It would have been more convenient to just stay in the center of Munich, especially after all the driving we've already done that day.

If you're going to the airport, stay here. If not, then try to get a hotel closer to the center of town.

“Not at Airport but in Charming Village”

Marriott Munich Airport

4 of 5 stars
Rochester, NY
Sep 11, 2008

United Airlines made an error in our flights which resulted in our having to stay overnight unexpectedly in Munich. The Lufthansa service agents found us a room at the nearly full Marriott. There was no shuttle available so we took a cab to the hotel for 25 Euros.

The hotel is a distance from the airport but it is in a pleasant residential area just above the main village street. Check in was pleasant and efficient. Our room was not huge but an acceptable size with the typical comfortable Marriott bed and pillows and toiletries. The room appeared to have been recently renovated and was quite nice. Our only complaint was that the hallways smelled of cigarette smoke even on a non-smoking hall. The room however was fine.

The hotel staff gave us a map, good directions into the village and an excellent restaurant recommendation. They even called to check on the need for reservations. We enjoyed the village. The buildings were charming but the many shops were very up to date. The restaurant, Weissbrau Huber, turned out to be a classic beer garden with excellent food, wine/beer, and good service.

After a good night's sleep our wake up call came right on time as did the shuttle we had reserved. The charge was 11 Euros per person.

For a totally unexpected stay we found the Marriott in Freising to be very pleasant and the village was charming, not a great deal to see or do but nice for an overnight stop before flying out the next day.

“Exccellent Experience”

Marriott Munich Airport

5 of 5 stars
Virginia

Very nice hotel. Staff was quite helpful. Room was clean; comfortable beds. We preferred the Bar Asamstube for lunch and dinner - good, inexpensive food - ask for the 'bar menu' to get the best deals. Our only complaint - breakfast in the main restaurant was very expensive.

We HIGHLY recommend the nearby Hofbrauhauskeller restaurant. Lovely setting, comfortable, friendly staff, and outstanding German food.

“Great Room and Bed”

Marriott Munich Airport

4 of 5 stars
Denver, CO
Jun 22, 2008

First I must say that I spent extra $ for a deluxe room; 269 euros per night. When I arrived a little before noon, they had a room for me immediately, which was very nice since official check-in is at 3pm. The room I received was larger than most rooms in the U.S., a surprise to me, and it was quiet and comfortable with good air conditioning. The bed was also very comfortable. The bathroom was nice, but the temperature control of the shower was not well regulated, shifting between cold and hot every 10 seconds or so. Other guests also commented on the shower temperature.

Regarding food, the breakfast buffet was well stocked and varied, although I wish it opened before 6:30am. The rate I paid included breakfasts. I only ate breakfast at the hotel.

Overall, I recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

“Avoid at all costs”

Marriott Munich Airport

2 of 5 stars
AYR, SCOTLAND

A first when you walk into the reception area the hotel looks excellent. Unfortunately the rooms are nowhere near the same standard. They are dated and the bathroom was very poor -it is very dated with cracked sinks and moldy walls. Also if you want to get to the airport without getting the train (which requires changing trains) it costs a minimum of 21 euros for the hotel airport shuttle bus. I felt it would have been easier/cheaper to stay in munich city centre and get the direct train to the airport.
