I have been using this hotel for conferences for a few years and will now look for an alternative: Staff at the frontdesk is inexperienced and not too forthcoming, checkout procedures are cumbersome, conference guests and hosts are treated as 2nd class.

The Spa (openend late 2003) already shows signs of deterioration - creaking floorboards in the saunas, the soothing indoor waterfall and rivulet turned off and dry.
They seem to be very well booked throughout the year and management may not be up to the task or just a bit complacent.

On a positive note, Mr Brandl is as cheerful and present as ever. A true assett. And the hotel's spectecular alpine location is hard to beat.

We love this place! We traveled with two small children and staff very helpful and giving. The view was breathtaking. Our room was large enough with an extra twin bed and crib. Room service was quick and found it to be cheap and easier with the kids for breakfast. Though there are walking trails everywhere, we liked the one that went around the small lake. It made it easier for the double stroller and it had cows roaming around to make it feel like a true trail in the mountains! We are Americans and thought the language would be a problem but everywhere we went it seemed the locals went out of their way to help. We actually loved this place so much we stayed an extra night.

“Arabella Sheraton Alpenhotel, Spitzingsee”

We stayed in this hotel in July 2003. This is a truly magnificent place. About 60 miles south of Munchen, the Sheraton Alpenhotel is a hotel not exactly far away out of Munchen, but enough far away to find yourselves in a completely other world, far far away from the busy city of Munchen. And what a room ! Be sure to ask for room 353. This is the only room that is so beautiful - the clerk at the desk told it to me myself. My wife and kids stayed in the hotel while I was for business downtown Munich - and they enjoyed themselves in the huge swimming pool and the playground outside. The nature outside is magnificent. What a christmassy place this must be in winter (snow already in October, through to March). Be sure you have snowchains underneath your car when you drive. Plusses: the room, the incredible huge bathroom, the silecence, the garage, the food. Minus: local people not exactly in mood of little children, the tables in the dining room are to close to each other and the locals almost whisper which make the whole atmosphere a bit strange. No airconditioning in summer. In summer many flies along the buffet in the dining room.
